Late arrivals and unattended caravans

Hi all,  Just back from our first trip with our shiny new caravan.  Had the best fun ever trying to get everything to work!  However I'm confused about a couple of things:

1.  The reception office closed at 5.30pm, so if you're a late arrival, how is your pitch allocated?  After all, 5.30 isn't late at all if you're travelling to site after a day's work.  We saw two vans pitch up at 5.45 and 6.15pm, so how did that work?  There was a single space for 'late arrivals' to hook up to electric, but I assumed this would be for properly 'late' people, arriving after dark maybe.

2.  I asked if it was possible to leave the van on our pitch until the following weekend.  It was available but both my husband and I had to return to work from Tues morning to Fri afternoon and the warden said we weren't allowed to leave the van unattended for more than 48 hours.  Why is this if we pay the site fee?

3. Finally, why can't I contact the CC directly by email instead of having to phone during office hours - when I'm at work and can't get to the phone !  Hence the reason for my posting on this forum.  Maybe I've missed the email link:)
