Reversing confusion

Where should the "guider" stand while directing the driver when reversing the caravan?

My husband and I have this "discussion" nearly every time we have to reverse.  As the rear of the  caravan swings when changing direction he disappears out of view in the wing mirror,  Someone once told me that the best place for the guider to stand is in front of the car and guide the driver from there. How do you avoid a disappearing guider and do you have and answer to our dilemma?

There seems to be an assumption here that the man is in the driving seat and the woman is somewhere near the back of the caravan. Has anyone  tried using a mobile phone while the driver's mobile is on hands free? It saves shouting! In any marriage or partnership communication is everything.

Tried that .... but by the time she's found the phone at the bottom of her handbag I could have pitched the caravan .....

My requests to my guider to 'look up' are often heard having watched a guider position partners van on the pitch near perfectly but then the driver creased the top rear panel on an over hanging tree bough whilst trying to 'gild the lily'.surprised

The only โ€˜ruleโ€™ needed is-if you can see the drivers face in one of the wing mirrors they can see you. If the C/van stops you seeing the drivers face in the mirror switch to the other side๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜Š

PS-stick to this rule & all disagreements will be a thing of the past.

....though one might think after years of shouting out of the window "I can't see you, can you see me?!" the response might be to move rather than come back to the car to ask, "well where do you want me to stand?"

especially as the answer is always "...anywhere you can see me and the back of the caravan!"foot-in-mouthlaughing

....I have found that setting up the go-pro as a rear view camera in the back window works well too when solo...when I can be bothered to do it.

OH has kitted up the van with a rear view camera, warning bleepers and me...this combination seems to work. laughing
