Waste hog or bucket?

Hi. This is our first season and we're getting all the kit together and the above question has come up. My first thoughts were to get a wastemaster/hog but i have read on forums that they are a waste of space and you don't really need them a bucket will do. Some have mentioned theat sometimes you need the lift them to empty them which would be heavy and one person said they "wouldn't be seen dead using a wastemaster in France". what's the general opinion, why not use one in france? Any advice would be appreciated.
