Water Supply To Electric Only Pitches

I am a relatively new motorhomer with no previous caravanning experience and where possible only stay on serviced pitches as I don't wish to move my motorhome once it is positioned on the pitch. Can anyone advise what are the chances of having access to a water tap close to my pitch to which I can connect my fresh water hose when necessary. I realise that sites will vary but I am asking about 4 star sites which don't offer serviced pitches. Sorry if this is the daft question of the day!

Argh!   Backflow and contamination. You will have the local public health chappies in paroxisms of delight as they can shut down the site now!

I thought most bib taps had double check valves to prevent this?

A point worth mentioning is that your waste grey water tank will fill before you need fresh water.

If you use your MH as a caravan,( ie static for more than a few days) it would be wise to copy the caravanners .....use a remote waste container then the MH method with a watering can to top up the fresh tank.

The beauty of a Motorhome is that you can have days out touring the surrounding countryside and places of interest from the campsite and take your facilities with you. ----------- It is a simple job to Fill up and empty at the M/H service point either when going out for the day or upon your return.

P.S -- Remember to leave a ( Pitch in use by a motorhome ) sign prominately displayed on your pitch, so that nobody pinches your pitch when you are away from site

The OP suggests the possibility of using a normal service point to refill tanks. Whilst I have seen that done I have also seen notices saying that service points should not be used for such purposes. We use an external  water container as we have a means of pumping the contents into the main tank we suits us if we are on site for more than a couple of days. Other use a watering can to top up the tank. Whilst it might depend on the OP's physical ability to lug fresh and waste water around I am not sure I would be keen to pay another £4 a night extra to have those facilities closer to hand. Obviously different if you are a caravanner was supply of water and disposal of waste water is in the main done by external containers.

Never seen such a sign, but agree that MHs should not monopolise a service point.

However, if you are near enough one, as a caravanner I would have no problem with you, as a MHer connecting a hose as long as you were prepared to disconnect after a minute or two should a caravanner need to fill their Aquaroll.

You could complete your filling afterwards.

Kj I think you may well be much more considerate than manysmile

There are many such signs although we use a suitable comment on the underside of our loose stepsealed

A thrify solution could be to book a service pitch for one night, then an unserviced pitch for a few more, than a services pitch again so that facilities are not going unused but charged for when not needed all the time.

That is surely almost the same as just getting an ordinary pitch and taking the MH to the MH service point as required?
