Boxes of Wine

For our caravanning trips I've started to buy boxed of wine instead of bottles.  There are some reasonable quality wines that can be had in boxes (not top quality ones, but 'general drinking' wines), and it does generally work out cheaper.

Believe it or not, it also means I drink less.  My wife tends not to drink alcohol (very useful, if we go out - she drives home).  When I open a bottle of wine, as I am the only one drinking it, I am always left in a dilemma.  If you keep an opened bottle of wine 'for another day' it never tastes as good, so I am tempted to drink the lot, being the alternative to leaving it for another day of throwing the remainder away.  With a box of wine I can just take what I want and, because of the container, the rest keeps fresh.  I am less tempted to 'force down' the whole bottle.  The net result is that I am drinking less wine and the wine boxes are, themselves cheaper.

It might not work for everyone, but it is better for me and for my pocket!
