I'm looking for quotes for my 1yr old Coachman Vision 640/6.  It's a new for old policy, insuring the caravan for £20k.  My renewal quote came through from Coast vis my broker and they want £389 but a search of the comparison sites gets me a quote for £187 with a company called Frank Pickles.  Problem is i've never heard of them and can't seem to find any information on whether they are any good.  I don't want to make an expensive mistake if I need to claim on the policy but I also don't want to pay double if not necessary.

My current broker has basically implied that the policy must be rubbish if it's that cheap but a review of the policy booklet shows the same cover as i'm currently getting.

Does anyone have any experiences?

Caravan club quoted nearly £500.

Thanks for the advice l did a quick search and did not find anything in the way of customer reviews but if they are a genuine firm as you say then nothing wrong with that could be they offer a better price because they take a smaller margin than the big companies.

The level of saving is so high it cannot be commission. Basicaly to save large sums against the opposition you have to cut out something or everyone else has got it wrong. I would check independant reviews on the claims service and if the policy has DEFAQTO five star rating.

I  think it was not Money supermarket but one of the other other comparisom sites . No doubt it s cheaper because it may not offer as comprehensive a cover as more expensive policies all depends what you need but no point in paying for cover you do not need. Frank Pickles was established in the 1950s and this is what their website says.

We were insured through Frank Pickles last year and I've just renewed this very evening. Haven't had a claim thankfully but a great price. Ours is an older van, 2007, got market value cover with £800 awning cover and £200 contents. £100 voluntary excess and £100 compulsory excess for £65.30. I'm happy. Laughing

Well its often owners of older vans who want to cover the basics at an affordable price. Ours is the same age as yours and as I said its on a seasonal pitch with storage in the winter so it only ever moves 200 yards from field to hard standing. I think if I had a new caravan and was touring I would probably go for a more comprehensive policy but what you spend has to be relative to the value of the caravan.
