Fuelpecker/ Nectar Points

I think I probably know the answer to this, but perhaps others may know different!!  😀😀.......

Paying with a Fuelpecker card entitles you to 4p off a litre of diesel at Esso.  There is also a deal whereby you can trade in 300 Nectar points for 5p off a litre of diesel.  (You can guess where this is going.... 😀)

If you use 300 Nectar points (for the 5p reduction) and then pay with your Fuelpecker card, which comes through in a few days with 4p a litre off....  That way you have saved 9p a litre at Esso.......

Anyone tried it?  Probably a very slim chance.....  I'd be interested to hear if anyone has tried it......

Comment from my wife: 'Trust you to think of that!!!!!'  🤣🤣🤣

I see that on page 20 of the Sep Club Mag it says that the Fuelpecker offer is discontinued.  It fails to say that it continues for existing card holders.  Not very good Editor!  Could a Moderator report this so that a correction can be made in the next issue.

I have just got back from a hol in France and did not use the Fuelpecker card because at Total garages you could get diesel for €1.57 - €1.67 a ltr whilst Esso and most others it was circa €1.79 - €1.89+.  Even on the autoroutes at Total outlets it was possible to get diesel at €1.64 (or less!); about a quarter of the services are Total outlets and the price is displayed before the exit.  Petrol was cheaper than diesel for the first time in France.  There was a decision by the French Govt to reduce the tax on diesel by (I think) 30% from 1 Sep. Anyway, I do not think I would have used my card because payment is linked to your bank account and I would have paid a small overseas transaction fee and I have another card with no fee.
