M6 Toll

Came up the M6 toll this afternoon and presented my tariff of £5:30 I was a little on the slow side in handing my club membership card to the kiosk attendant when she said that will be £8:60.

As I handed her my club card she said we can only use it up to the end of this year, has any member heard of this (my membership card expires end of September)

It seems many more are doing the same, to avoid the dreaded roadworks on M6/M5. The volume of traffic has doubled in the past year, the A41/49 around Whitchurch now resembles the M25 as folk try to save a few minutes.

Nevermind, I'm told Brexit will solve all our problems 😉

Well it certainly wasn't like that when we came through at 11:30 on Monday of this week on our way from Shrewsbury to Chester, jonray. We had no problems what so ever.

So you're the lucky one Nellie! Glad our local roads were quiet for you 😀

Peedee asked about the A50 from Stoke to M1. You need to be watchful round Stoke as the A50 shoots off and goes round a complicated junction. After that you will find the run ins very short and traffic quite heavy. However once out of Stoke it is plain sailing. Plenty of laybys and at Derby Burton services you can sometimes get in the lorry park. If you have a short outfit you can get on the main car park here. We use the A50 regularly albeit we generally miss Stoke. An alternative is to come off  M^ at Stafford north and go to Uttoxter then A50. The bit round Uttoxeter is easy. We have used the M6  Toll very frequently but won't with the loss of discount.

In all fairness, there shouldn't be any preferential treatment for anybody on what is a public toll road.  I applaud the forthcoming action on the M6 toll price structure. -------It's called fair and proper pricing for all.

For my Dart Crossings I signed up for an account which gets me and anyone else I put on it discounted rates. I put the BinL's French registered car on it to save him having to sort payment when he visits.

In the case of the M6 toll the discount was for being a member of the CAMC, that is as far as I know open to all. So anyone thinking they might benifit from the discount was free to join.

M6 Toll offer was one of the main offers I enjoyed from club membership as I use the M6 toll at least 10 times a year. Sad they could not have negotiated a deal.

I must admit I will still use it as the extra cost is nowhere near as bad as the experience of travelling through the M6/M5 Birmingham to Walsall section in any direction.

2019 is not starting well for us club members.

Pitch fee increases

Storage pitch price increases

No M6 Toll discount

I guess if the road authority withdraws the concession, there’s nothing the club can do.

Fees in almost all walks of life go up every year, as do pensions and pay - it’s a fact of life.

Even worse if it's electricity only, as in our case.☚ī¸
