Run your motorhome or car tow car on red diesel

I feel the rising cost of fuel will gradually have an impact on the caravanning and tourist industry as a whole.  Many caravanners are already expressing concern about travelling further distances.  The tourist industry in the more remore parts of the country i.e. Cornwall, Pembrokeshire etc. could well suffer economically because of the increase in cost in travelling there.  Some of these areas depend of tourism.

Is it worth petitioning the government to allow motorhomers and those towing caravans to be allowed to use red diesel while they are towing/using their vehicles for holidaying purposes.

This, may of course be dead on the ground, but with the support of the Caravan Club it would certainly bring this to the attention of those in government to the strength of feeling.

Furthermore, if this proposal had the support of the Executive Committee of the Caravan Club, we may just be able to run with it.

(By the way, for anyone who doesn't know, red diesel is the same as ordinary diesel but is without tax - used currently mainly for farm vehicles)

All opinions please - even from the Exec Committee.  With there support an e-petition may be viable.
