Having recently tried to visit Clarks Village I thought this might be of some interest to our members.

We arrived in a terrible downpour and tried to park our small motor home and met with the very rude car park attendantn no. 514 We tried to park in a car space but found we over hung the space a bit and as we are the size of a mini buss we stopped in one of those spaces.  My husband spoke to the attendant who when asked about parking he was told if parked in general car space would issue a ticket so then mentioned about mini bus space he again said would issue a ticket. We then asked where we could park he said in no uncertain terms we couldn't park? He was very rude. So we left. Since then I have written to Clarks Village and this is the reply I received.

They said that the car park attendant was employed by Mendip District  Council.  Their reply:

We would have been very happy for you to park in our staff, here is the response which I usually send to people with caravans/campervan ect:-

Thank youforyour email, yes you are more than welcome to park in our staff car park, if possible, please can you follow this link. https://clarksvillage.co.uk/your-visit/getting-here enteryour Village from your home address are given.

The only change to these directions will occur when you turnoff the A39 onto Farm Road, take the first right on to Southlease Orchard, continue down the road and and as it bends to the left there are green double gates in front of you, the gates are usually opened at approx. 6.00am

as mentioned it is a staff car park and therefore there aren't any charges to park, however this is a designated permit holders only area, please can you provide me with your registration details which will be forwarded onto our security team to ensure that a penalty fine isn't issued.

If you get lost please phone the number below, anyone who answers will be able to assist.

I hopt this has been of some assistance. Lots of people use us as a stop off when passing through the area on their way to the South coast.

Kind Regards+44 (0)20 7413 9000.

This I thought would have been nice to know and we will try once again to visit this shopping center next time we go to Somerset  as heard so much about this place  and all good.

We were told to use the staff car park with our MH by the TIC at the village but were then turned away by the man on the gate!

There are other car parks around the site and at least 2 can be used by MHs. The main car park is definitely no go.

As I live in the area and would call myself a fairly frequent visitor I would add that I often see smaller motorhomes/camper vans in the car park at the Glastonbury end of the village. It's unusual to see an attendant, I don't think I've ever seen one so that bit was unlucky. There are instructions about parking vans on the FAQ bit of Clarks web site. It says that van owners must phone ahead if they want to use the staff car park, you wont be allowed into this area unless you have contacted them. Hope this helps. smile

See LINK and scroll down to the campervan bit.

this is the car park at Southleaze, campers/mh are generally parked at the left hand end, beware lowish overhanging trees.

the other pic is the entrance and although the sign on the left says Employees Only, the sign on the right says  Caravan and campervan parking.

i can't recall ever seeing a caravan there, but I also didn't know vanners needed to ring ahead, but seems logical in an employees car park.

like Brue, we've also seen very small vans using a single space in the main car park, but also some pretty large ones, too....
