Our Top Site To Date

The situation is magnificent and, with its elevated position on a hill sloping towards the morning sun, the panoramic view over the Mussenden Estate towards Portstewart and Portrush is a splendid way to start the day. The owner, Howard, couldn't have been more accommodating. A gentleman farmer who was always cheery and willing to lend a hand, or give advice if required but, if peace was what you wanted, then peace is what you got. The site is very well maintained, clean and tidy, as are the on-site services. There is so much to see and do in this area that it kept us busy every day of the two weeks we spent here. Two memories stand out: exploring old Derry city and a long, long walk along Downhill Beach (just below the site) paddling in the shallows as we went. Tip: follow the approach route given in the handbook as the more obvious approach from the village of Downhill involves a steep slope, hairpin bends, and narrow roads.
