Great Walking

Recently spent a weekend at this very nice site. Although listed as a CL it is adjoining a larger site with approximately 15 pitches. The CL states adults only but the larger site has a large proportion of seasonal caravans, many of which were occupied by families with children. At the time of booking we were unaware of the larger site and thought we had booked a pitch on a CL. On arrival we discovered that our pitch was on the larger site – this was because the CL was full and actually was not a problem for us. We had a very nice pitch, level hardstanding but we did have to drive over the grass to the pitch. This is the case for all of the pitches on the CL too. The larger site has a big grassy area in the middle where children played football – this didn’t bother us but could be a problem for someone booking what appears to be an adult only site. We were charged £14.00 per night but not sure if this was because we weren’t on the CL. Very warm welcome from the owner who encouraged us to stay longer on Sunday to make the most of the day. The site is next to a working farm so there is some early morning activity with large farm vehicles driving along the access lane but this really wasn’t a problem. The best feature for us was the easy access onto the Whitegate Way – a 6 mile dismantled railway line – just through the gate, straight onto the path. Lots of options for walking along the trail with diversions off to make circular walks. The site is midway along the trail so walks can be done in either direction. No toilets or showers so you need to use your van’s facilities. Good weather made the weekend very enjoyable. Very relaxing site with friendly owners. Will definitely return and would recommend to anyone wanting easy walking without any need to drive once on site. The dog enjoyed it too – he came home exhausted!
