A really welcoming site

We have visited this site twice now, firstly at Easter-time and then last week. Jane gave us a very warm welcome on both occasions. The site was quite wet on the first visit but we managed to get our camper van on and off okay. Since then Jane has laid an all weather grid in the field which should make the pitches accessible in all weathers. We do not have many electrical appliances so had no problem with the 1200 watts limit. Jane did offer to lend us a low wattage kettle or heater if needed. This is a lovely site down a quiet lane on the edge of a beautiful old village. There are fields around teeming with wildlife and it is a great place to walk or cycle from. We can fully recommend it!

Friendly but more a fair weather site

We had a wonderfully warm welcome from Jane, she couldn't have been more helpful. Even prior to arriving she was brilliant over the phone with advice and pre warning us of the mud on site due to our extreme rainy conditions of late. I cannot fault Jane, nor the beauty of the surroundings. Please don't think this is a bad review, it's not. I just feel that for us, it is more of a fair weather site due to mud (again, we were pre warned). Plus the electrics didn't cope at all well with our gadgets. We were pre warned about the voltage & very much took this on board but we still had several problems. In fairness to Jane, we discussed it & she is looking into the issue. Lovely lady. Great for Clevedon and Weston.

Beautiful, Secluded, Tranquil Retreat.

A lovely little gem of a site by a quiet picture postcard village. Only 5 minutes from Clevedon with a couple of supermarkets and a tranquil seafront and pier. In the other direction there is a Hungry Horse pub which does reasonable price meals. We enjoyed a weeks holiday there and would happily go again. The 6amp supply wasn't a problem at all - fridge/freeze ran, heating worked ok (to 1kw) and microwave operated fine. plus TV and charging phones etc. Downside is that it is close enough to the M5 to be able to hear it when outside, but it didn't keep us awake at night. The otherwise is you have to go back to Clevedon for an entrance to the M5 - but that is really a minor issue. We went to Weston Super Mare a few times - its fairly close by. Overall it is a brilliant small site and the owner is very friendly and welcoming. It really is the best of both worlds.

A lovely place to stay

Ballards Acre is a lovely, tranquil country CL side situated close to the quiet, picturesque village of Kingston Seymour on Yatton Moor. There is an amazing variety of wild bird life on the Moor and one can be pleasantly startled when an occasional flock of wild fowl fly overhead. It is a very pleasant place to stay. Jane made us very welcome. She has an amazing knowledge regarding local history especially pertaining to that of the later Roman period during which there were a number of settlements in the surrounding area. We enjoyed peaceful walks in the countryside, visiting the numerous fishing lakes within walking distance and also the delightful restaurants and shops nearby in the seaside town of Clevedon, within walking or cycling distance. The campsite is well set out with free use of the lovely grass Tennis Court adjacent to the site. A BBQ, shelter, chairs and wooden picnic benches are provided for guests to use as well as a summer house with information leaflets for the surrounding area. There are lots of interesting places to visit nearby. The village of Kingston Seymour has a rich history and a lovely parish church. It is worth taking a look at Kingston Seymour village website for further information. We have been pleased to stay at Ballards Acre a number of times now and we highly commend it. Thank you Jane for being such a great host and we look forward to returning again soon. Warren and Diana.

Away from it all

Although only a few miles from our home this is a lovely rural hideaway that seems a million miles from the urban rush. Previous reviewers have explained the set up.  It only remains for me to confirm that an equally warm welcome awaited us in mid October.  Thank you Jane.  We hope to return next year.

One of our favorite CL sites

Ballards Acrce was easy to get to from the Motorway and the roads leading to the CL were not too narrow as some have been. Jane made us very welcome, was a great host and helped us with her local knowledge of the area. The campsite is well set out with a fabulous grass Tennis Court, free to use and for all abilities. No need to bring bats and balls as it is all there ready to use. There is a ready set up BBQ, shelter, chairs and picnic benches too and summer house with information leaflets of the area. All this for £10 a night. The campsite is near to fishing lakes and a golf course and many big food shops. Also near to Bristol and Weston supermare and Brean Sands. Using the back roads you can get to Cleavedon and Portishead without having to travel on the motorway. Cleavedon has an old pier with daily boat trips, gardens and an outdoor Lido and Portishead has an outdoor swimming pool alongside boating lakes and picnic area with free parking. Fabulous area with lots of fun activities going on whilst we were there. Looking forward to coming back again, thank you Jane.

Ballards Acre CL

We loved everything about this new CL and will certainly be back as our family live in the area. The owner, Mrs Jane Bell made us more than welcome and spent time chatting about the local area. The site has an adjoining tennis court which she invited us to use. We had our young grandchildren over and they loved the freedom of running around in an big enclosed area. The water, refuse area and chemical toilet emptying facilites were well placed and easy to use. We have no hestitation in recommending this CL and wish Jane all the very best for the future of the site. Brian and Sarah Iredale
