Wolds Gem

Lovely CL for a getaway from it break. Grass pitches are huge. Excellent recycling facilities. Good view over the runway to watch the goings on there, but not disturbed by the flights as very few. Little honest box shop located on the footpath route great addition. Useful location for visiting the area. Barnetby itself appeared pleasant when we travelled through on departure. Will return again in our motorhome.

We really must stay here more often!

We have stayed on this site twice now, and once on its sister site Mealand Hill. I was brought up in the village of Barnetby so the site is ideally situated for visiting my parents and my brother, and ideally for them to drive up and visit us, so we really must make the effort of staying here more often and not expecting my parents to put us up! The site is set atop the Wolds overlooking the runway of Humberside airport - which is set in a dip between the fields. Air traffic is minimal - but during our stay we were treated to 3 Spitfires taking off and landing - so you can't really complain about that. Two of the Spitfires are resident at the airport, the third was the Spitfire flying the rounds of hospitals to give thanks to the NHS . We also saw two take off the next day. The views from the site are stunning and even the oil refineries in the distance don't do anything to obstruct the vista. For cyclists you can join a National Cycle route near the entrance to the sites - but the route over the fields isn't really ideal for road bikes - more for hybrids/mountain bikes. Going in the opposite direction you can cycle to Barnetby crossroads and go right and follow the cycle route to the Humber Bridge (and beyond) via Barton - the roads are pretty quiet - or turn left at the crossroads and cycle through the pretty village of Bigby and up the 10% hill to Somerby Top, from whence you can also get some stunning views - and on a clear day - you can clearly see the magnificent Lincoln Cathedral. There are public footpaths for walkers/ramblers - and indeed the Viking Way is close by - starting in Barnetby and ending up in Caistor. Pam and her husband are very friendly owners and make you feel very welcome. Both sites are immaculate and the grass is kept well mown. Pam was out twice on her drive-on mower when we were staying! All the pitches are serviced with their own water supply which is a bonus too. We can highly recommend this site and we will DEFINITELY be booking again next time we want to meet up with the family or if we just fancy some peace and tranquility in the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds.

Local getaway

We usually stay on the sister site Mealand Hill but gave this a try for a change and would echo our review. It is only about a half hour from home so we love it for a quick weekend away. It is a lovely, peaceful site with views out over the fields and of the airport (there isn't heavy air traffic). The owners are very friendly and we first visited through family recommendations. We can't fault it here. There is room for the kids to play and walks from the site. Lovely walk following the track to the woods. Just a lovely relaxing cl.

Perfection

We decided to pop away for a long weekend 30 min from our front door and we could have been 3 hours away. This CL is a hidden gem in the Lincolnshire Countryside. The owners ( Pamela and Peter) are amazing and Pamela was on hand to offer advice about the site and surrounding area. The views are amazing and if you like planes you can watch them landing and taking off from the nearby Humberside Airport. The field is very spacious and because of the chalk ground is well drained all year round. Each pitch has its own tap and drainage, so for £14 you are getting a fully serviced pitch at a fraction of the cost. The board on arrival will have your name on it and which pitch you have been allocated, it is very quaint. There are actually 2 CL sites back to back on the same site but you would never know as they are separate by 2 very large hedges that act as a good wind break. I can’t recommend this perfect CL enough.

Lovely owners.

The owners of this site are fantastic way beyond the call of duty.my husband was taken ill whilst there and they could not have been more helpful. It was such a beautiful, peaceful site we will certainly go again. The lawns and hedges were well maintained. Great site for a relaxing holiday.

Excellent

There are 2 CLs on this farm 1 each side of a hedged lane and we were given the choice as to where we wanted to pitch. One overlooks the runway at Humberside Airport (not busy) and fields towards Hull, the other countryside views. Both are very good with large pitches each with its own water, drainage & electric. Pamela and Peter, the owners, are very friendly and welcoming. The site is good for access to Hull - we did P & R which was free with our passes. We would definitely use this site again if in the area.

Quite Gem.

A nice quite peaceful site, well looked after grounds, level, clean and tidy. Owners very welcoming and friendly. Close to Humberside Airport but the noise is minimal as smaller aircraft use this airport. Used it as a night stop over for journey north, not far from the Humber Bridge crossing so convenient. Would visit again.

Walks a plenty

Have used this site several times over the years and only lived 10 minutes away. Fabulous views and many walks for dogs along beautiful wolds and woods with wild flower country green lanes for miles and miles
