A lovely friendly site!

Situated just 15 mins walk from the local pub, this peaceful dog-friendly CL with basic facilities of EHU, drinking water, toilet and waste disposal was perfect for a short break. The owners were very friendly and helpful, pitches were spacious and flat, and the beautiful woodland walk attached to the site was full of wildlife - owls, muntjack etc. A great location for exploring the seaside gems of Aldeburgh, Southwold and Dunwich - we will certainly be back!

A fantastic site to unwind on.

The reviewer claiming to have had the lorry performing in the field at 4am must surely not be talking about this particular site. No lorries can enter the site, let alone start turning around in the field at 4am in the morning. We have been coming to this site twice a year for the sole purpose to unwind. Its a quiet restful site with a very helpful and friendly owner. Regarding dogs charging around unaccompanied we have never seen that. A friendly 15 month old Labrador when its at home is always accompanied by the owner Trevor, otherwise its away from home with him. My advise to anybody thinking of going to this site is, read the club book for details on how to enter the site. The sign saying 'Private Property Keep Out' is referring to the piece of land to the right of the drive way leading to the farm. If you want peace and tranquility and a good base to see the site of this part of Suffolk you'd be hard pressed to find a better one.

Fab site

Site very easy to find if you follow the instructions given, we had no problems what so ever! I really liked the fact that the very friendly owner met us immediately on arrival, very welcoming. Lovely site, very, very quiet. Only dog, apart from our own, was a gorgeous one that literally smiled at us. No lorries, no noise. Very convenient for Dunwich, Thorpeness, Aldeburgh etc. There are fantastic walks through the adjoining wood for dogs, also a short walk to the local pub. A very convenient village store nearby. All in all......what else could you want?

Not what we expected

We arrived at the end of Judith Avenue and saw a keep out sign, just turning round when another motor home happened to turn up and show us the way. Not very welcoming start. During the early evening, an articulated lorry used the camping field as a turning circle, and then again an hour later, the lorry was chased by 2 unaccompanied large dogs the second time. Ok if you like large dogs chasing about. The lorry next used the field at 4am and woke us up. The location was super for Thorpeness and Aldeborough but too noisy with the lorry for us. We will not be visiting this CL again.

Comment from the Club

Many thanks for leaving a review. The CL owners have been in touch as they work really hard to ensure all guests feel welcome and that everyone has a wonderful time on their site. As such they would like to clear up any confusion. There are no keep out signs at the CL or nearby. There is a sign at the start of the drive that says ‘private property no unauthorised access’ but as a guest you would be authorised and more than welcome. Please be assured that the owners dog is never unaccompanied and is always supervised. If you ever have any concerns about dogs on site please speak to the CL owners. The owner does have a lorry but only uses it very occasionally and during the day, not at 4am so we are sorry that something disturbed you at this hour. If you ever have any concerns whilst staying on a site please do speak to the CL owners as they will always do their utmost to help. We hope this clears up any confusion.

Lovely CL

This was our third visit. The site is very easy to access and the field is very large with plenty of room. The electric hooks ups are situated round the edge of the field and despite the trees there is little shade but for sun lovers just great. There are woods that can be accessed straight from the site so great for dog walks plus a village pub and shop and another pub just a ten minute walk away through the wood. A great site perfect for visiting lovely places such as Snape Maltings and Aldeburgh. Will definitely be going back.

What a CL should be

Trish and Trevor run this great CL. They define the term - salt of the earth. Superbly situated within easy cycling distance of Aldeburgh and Thorness. Also two pubs within an easy walk, the Parrot and Punchbowl can be reached within a short walk through the woods. Great traditional pub with a good food selection and good beer. There are NO downsides to this CL

Super Suffolk CL

Recently returned from five wonderful days at this CL. finding the site was easy, following the directions given. The final approach is past the local school, with cars parked on the road it's a good idea to avoid arriving around 3pm during term time. The site is a large reasonably level grass field, surrounded on three sides by trees and hedges to give some shelter. The EHU points are really well spaced out, so everyone has plenty of room, to pitch however you want. There is direct access to woodland and walks from the site, great for dog walking. you can walk to Thorpeness and then pick up the coastal path. There is a pub,and a very well stocked shop in the village , together with a small farm shop.Supermarkets can be found in Leiston and Aldeburgh. The owners were really friendly and we were lucky enough to see their steam traction Engine in action as they were taking it to a local vintage vehicle display. We found the site central for all the Suffolk coastal towns, RSPB Minsmere and NT Dunwich Heath. Facilities are very good, and there is a clean toilet if required. We even had a reasonable EE wifi and phone signal. All in all an excellent cl, which we will be definitely using again.

Our bolt hole

My parents found this site prior to Trevor and Trish taking it on. It was the first site we stayed at with our new van. We have been back 3 times so far.The site has been developed very nicely over the years. The kids love it, beach nearby, good fish and chip shop in village.Great location for exploring area.
