Flies, flies and more flies!

Visited August 2015 When is a CL not a CL?  There were 5 available pitches near each other which we assume were for the CL, adjacent to the small animal enclosure;  however across the field next to the hedge was another caravan which seemed to be permanent and higher up the field were three more, including one which was permanently stored there.  We all appeared to use the same water supply and chemical toilet emptying point. As with previous reviews the flies were an absolute menace.  Pigs were in a big shed adjacent to the field, although we could not see them.  However at certain times of the day, possibly feeding, you could certainly hear them squealing.  I know this is a working farm, however we never saw the owners and everyone was left to their own devices.  There were notices about keeping dogs on leads and not fouling the field, but this obviously does not apply to the owners, who let their own dog run loose in the field and fouled the area in front of the vans. Admittedly they did clear it up when complained to but that is not the point.  The good points were that it was only a 5 minute walk into Wymondham, with bus links to Norwich etc.  The steam railway is two minutes walk along the lane and the Abbey only a few yards further on.  The owners were so busy with the cafe, shop etc., that we had no contact and had difficulty finding someone to pay when we left.  One couple on the site at the same time as us, left two days early because they could not stand the fies any longer. It may be that the CL pitches are downwind of the flies, as they are close to the the animal enclosure and the other pitches on the other side and at the top of the field were not so affected. Needless to say we will not be returning.
