Peaceful little wildlife haven

Lovely to be on such a peaceful little site which gives space for wildlife. No scalped grass, verges or hedges which is rare and special. Watched Bullfinches hovering over dandelion clocks picking off seeds, Yellowhammers and Greenfinches singing, Song Thrushes in the grass and adult Long tailed tits feeding their young in the mature hedgerow and trees. No horrible grass cuttings to walk in the van either. We’ve stayed here a few times now and it’s a favourite for visiting nearby Martin Down Nature Reserve which is stunning in spring/summer.

march 23 stay - very happy

spent 2 nights at this site in march 2023 and thoroughly enjoyed it - very quiet location but within modest drive of salisbury for sight seeing . Level field with reliable electric hook up and plenty of space. Basic loo but fine. Welcoming owner and very relaxed about dog . Good value we would happily visit again thankyou.

Hidden Gem

We only spent a couple of nights here but will definitely be back. We absolutely loved this cl. It was so peaceful with lovely views and we were amazed to have it to ourselves. A fairly flat site it was tucked away behind hedges with a few trees dotted around if shade was required. We were surrounded by pretty villages and beautiful countryside, including the gallops, ideal for walking or cycling and we can highly recommend the Yew Tree pub in nearby Odstock. The owners were very friendly and it was fascinating to learn all about, and meet the alpacas they have. Comments have been made about the small lane it is necessary to go down to reach the cl, but don't let that put you off- it is only a small part of any journey to get there, and having been up and down it a few times we only met one tractor and that was as we were coming out of the entrance of the cl. We have stayed at some where you need to do quite a few miles of small lanes but this isn't one of those. If you want peace and quiet then you are going to have to drive down a few small lanes-obviously this is more difficult with a caravan than a motorhome.

Wow an Exceptional find

Only thing which lets this site down is the acess road to it. You come off a dual carriageway into the last 1/2 mile of your journey on a single track road with very few passing places. One of my relatives met an articulated lorry coming up the lane as he was going down it (luckily without his van on the back) The site itself is quite small and compact but sufficient to cover the needs of a camper. The owners were great, very dog friendly people and had full knowledge of the Alpaca's. One of the Alpaca's my daughter nicknamed Boris was very friendly and always came up for a fuss as we walked down to see them. Due to Covid19 the toilet facility was not available. A nice site for a stop at the edge of the New Forest

Love, love,loved it

Came back from thislittle fem of a site on Sunday after a lovely 2 night break. We had such a warm welcome from the owner, who was super dog friendly. We basically pitched up where we liked and he left us to it but we knew where to find him if need be. I normally have to wear ear plugs at caravan sites as I'm a light sleeper, but not here as it was so lovely and quiet. We also fell in love with the Alpacas, which were a huge added bonus. We had a fascinating lesson about them but the owner too which was brilliant. Lobely people, lovely site, but ssshhh, don't tell everyone as I want to come back time and time again 😉😊

Peaceful site . It was nice to walk up field in evening to see the Alpacas. The grass was long but mower had broken down. So will let that go .. Make sure you arrive after 1 pm only last piece of road very narrow.

Brief visit

Spent 1 night at this CL,to basically check that our heating was up to scratch for overnighting in the Motorhome in winter. Site was relatively easy to find and access was easy. Nobody home when we arrived, no problem as easy to find  a pitch and hook up. Husband popped to the house and paid, not really engaging lady took the payment. Level site, for us, quiet, do not bother with the loo, cold and sparse, quite whiffs! Would we come back, that's a no from us.

A Thoroughly Pleasant Stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our five night stay - found our way easily and received a warm welcome from Graham and Kathy.  The site was well looked after and peaceful with the alpacas an added attraction.  The surrounding area has much fine scenery and was great to explore.  I look forward to our next visit.

Peaceful and interesting site

Enjoyed a couple of nights on our way down to the southwest. A nice quiet CL with good facilities, well placed EHU's, a central water pipe and a functional toilet. Well located close to Salisbury with good access from the main road if you follow the directions. The owners were very welcoming and friendly and as others have said they keep a number of alpacas and their wool is available for sale. The walk down the track to see them is well worth it. Will use again.

Great site

Stayed here for seven nights in April 2016. Very pleasant and quiet with great views. Access from A354 was fine - there are four or five properties on the left hand side of the lane, and Cherwell Leys is about the fourth, immediately to the east of Martinique. Need to open gate then proceed down the track to the left. The lane from the A354 has wide verges and could cope with meeting another vehicle; if you miss the first turn-off and have to go through Martin village then the other (eastern) end of the lane is much narrower and more awkward. The toilet is functional rather than luxurious. A great CL - hope to return.
