Nice quiet site close to Winchester

We agreed with Dianna to sort ourselves out on arrival as she was away. Access up a single carriageway road was fine, plenty of places to pass, no problems with site access either, slightly sloping grass field but no problems with a block or two. Site in lovely quiet valley, horses seem to be the main crop! Easy access to Winchester and the New Forest, plenty to see and do in the area, would recomend.

Quirky and Quaint

We chose this CL as we wanted to use it as a base whilst walking some of the South Downs Way. The approach along the lane was fine - plenty of passing places - and the entrance to the CL has been widened - we had no problems getting in towing a twin axle. The owner is extremely friendly and very relaxed about where to pitch. As there was no-one else there at the time, we went on a level piece of hardstanding but anywhere else would possibly require levelling blocks. CL is extremely peaceful and has a lovely outlook. Althought there is plenty of walking straight out of the site, there is also a small field in which to exercise dogs if you wish. Personally, I liked the relaxed approach of the owner - makes a change from all the regimented stuff. Would use again if in the area.

First trip

This was our very first trip out in our newly acquired second hand motorhome. Daunting narrow lane entry with this being our first time out. Owner very welcoming. Lovely peaceful site, must have seen 20 different bird varieties in 2 days including Black Cap and Partridge. Local pub at Owslebury closed for 6 months. Good 7 mile walk up Longwood Warren, cross the South Downs Way and back along Fawley Down.

Weekend Break

Access to site bit tight but we managed it ok. Mrs Carter quite laid back about positioning on site. We recommend you take some stacks for your steadies. No toilet on site & you will need green fluid. Lovely scenery. Fishers Pond pub is worth a visit, as well a walk to Ship Inn at Owslebury.

Overnight Stay

We used this site for an overnight stay before getting the ferry at Portsmouth and received a warm welcome from Mrs Carter. The site is quiet and ideally located for the ferry ports. Unfortunately I would not recommend this site if you have a twin axle as the entrance off the single track road is very tight for longer outfits (hence only 3 rating).

Weekend break

We enjoyed a very pleasant weekend here at this hidden gem of a location. Tucked away off a quiet country lane, surrounded by farmland with good views towards hills. It is hard to believe you are not very far from Eastleigh and Southampton, it feels a world away. Access into the site is fine from the lane and the site owner very welcoming. Would thoroughly recommend and will be back again soon as this site is so close to family.

Hot Summer Break

A wonderful little site just what my wife and I like about a CL, a friendly welcome, a pleasant view, easy access to local attractions such as Marwell Zoo, Portsmouth, the City of Winchester and The Watercress Line, good TV signal, mobile signal moderate good for chat and text. While we were visiting the entrance was widened, we have a Lunar Clubman 475/2CK and a Ford Mondeo no trouble with access even prior to the this work taking place. I am sure we will be back when in the area.
