just stunning

our first visit to the IOW, and Downsview was the first site we stayed on for 3 nights. Excellent CL, spacious, flat HS pitches each with ehu, water & grey water disposal. The views are stunning and the owners helpful with information, leaflets and cheery wave & hello when passing. This is a great site if like us you leave the motorhome once pitched and walk or bus everywhere. 2 villages in opposite directions, each a mile so around 15-20 mins on foot both have pubs, Niton also has a coffee shop, chemist and a well stocked convenience store. Footpaths leave from the site in all directions, we walked to St Catherines Oratory from the site, stunning views to The Needles. Bus stops are close by. Dogs on lead on the CL field, but the adjoining field that is the open access to the CL they can be exercised off lead, bearing in mind there are sheep close by, and the bottom paddock is fully secure and dogs allowed off lead as long as sheep not using it. Can't recommend this site highly enough

Wonderful Welcome & Beautiful Views

Just spent a wonderful week at Downsview CL on the Isle of Wight. Hosts Richard and Beryl made us very welcome with plenty of recommendations for places to visit. Water and waste available on each pitch. Location is near Niton, so close to the beautiful coast and St Catherine's Point in the south of the island but only about 15 minutes into Newport for shopping and the cinema if it rains.

A great CL - we stayed for two weeks

First of all, apologies to the owners Richard and Beryl because of our tardiness in leaving a review for their wonderful CL. We are frequent visitors to the IOW (since 1984) but have never experienced gales and rain as we did during Cowes Week. Even the poor sheep in the field looked waterlogged. Suffice to say that we weren't blown away and the awning was still in one piece after two weeks' stay. Its a great CL and the addition of the services pitches (which we have never experienced before) made our stay all the more memorable. Richard and Beryl were friendly and welcoming and receipts etc were delivered on time. We hope to return one day when the weather isn't blowing a gale.

Lovely countryside views and a warm welcome

Really well maintained, serviced and peaceful site. With far reaching views of the wonderful IoW countryside and good access as previously noted to local footpaths. Useful information provided on arrival. Beryl and Richard friendly and helpful (including booking the ferry crossing at a reduced rate) but are not intrusive. Absolutely enjoyed our stay at Downsview, its a great base to explore IoW countryside along with its fabulous miles of coastline and beaches. Niton (approx 1 mile by car) has a well stocked store. Thank you Beryl and Richard for an enjoyable stay.

An Amazing Site

This has to be one of the best CLs with large well laid out fully serviced pitches with far reaching views. Richard and Beryl have obviously given a great deal of thought to providing everything you would require for a wonderful holiday. We spent eight days at this lovely site and is one we would definitely return to. Thank you Richard and Beryl.

Don’t want to leave.........

What an amazing find, we have been using CL’s for many years and this one is simply the best. When we arrived I could not believe our luck. Easy from start to finish, Richard booked our ferry crossing and saved us 50% on web price, great location and easy access to site. Level large hard standing pitches, which are fully serviced, yes.... FULLY SERVICED. How great was that, I could not believe our luck, this together with the amazing view, made our holiday. Richard and Beryl were lovely, helpful, made us feel welcome, nothing was too much bother... Loved it so much, we stayed a few extra days. Thank you, we will be back.... Lou and V

A great stay

A peaceful CL with an open sunny aspect and extensive views over the downs. Excellent facilities and well spaced ‘super pitches’. V good TV reception. Good footpaths from and close to site lead to an extensive network. It’s a 15 minute walk to Whitwell where the White Horse serves good meals and the buses take you to Ventnor and Newport. From Newport it is possible to explore the rest of the Island by rover ticket. There are opportunities for energetic cycling both off-road and on relatively quiet roads. Magnificent views of the IoW and the sea from the local high points. The nearest shops in Niton are a mile away by road but further by footpath. The owners Richard and Beryl are v friendly and attentive and rightly proud of their attractive CL.

Wonderful site, fantastic views and warm welcome

We visited Downsview CL when I was unwell and needed to rest. What a blessing we found this CL and Richard and Beryl, the caring and thoughtful owners. The views are spectacular so it wasn’t a necessity to drive out if needing to just rest and the convenience of the services on the pitch was a true bonus. I thoroughly recommend the peace and quiet, along with the dog walks right outside the gate and an easy walk to the village and pub. We had a bit of a surprise when we took off our hitch cover, only to find a bird had started to build a nest under it! We felt really guilty having to take it off and drive away. Hopefully the bird will find it and rebuild quickly somewhere a little safer. We will definitely return.

A very Gregarious site

Stayed on this site from 28th July to the 11th August, if your into peace and tranquillity this is the site for you , this was the 9th time we have stayed on the IOW and by far the best and what a refreshing change to stay on a site where you are allowed to position your caravan on your pitch which ever way round you choose to make the most of the fantastic views we had a fully serviced pitch at CL prices what more could you ask for, thank you Richard and Beryl. Fantastic Site

Fantastic site, best inland view we have had in over 40 years of caravanning. Richard and Beryl gave us a lovely welcome on arrival, they were not intrusive on our fortnights stay but were always available if you needed anything. Couldn't wish for more.
