WHAT A FANTASTIC FIND ..........We are family group of 5 vans, so CL's are our preferred choice, but they vary alot! I found this by accident whilst searching online and promptly booked for the May Bank Holiday w/e before anyone else did. Field Head Farm is a wonderfully simple yet perfectly well laid out CL with 5 spacious, west facing, gravel hardstanding (again our preferred choice) pitches, with electric to each one. Anna & Mick are extremely friendly and relaxed and allow you to pitch anyway you like - side on, or reversed in. The pitches are well kept and individually marked out, they are large enough for van, awning and car, still with space around you. There is a large lawn area in front of the vans you are able to use, with lovely views across their cattle meadows and beyond. We were very fortunate with the weather, so the young children in our group were able to play freely out on the lawn with their toys all weekend which was a huge bonus. There were 4 dogs in our group and they loved relaxing in the sun on the grass also. Although there isn’t a dog walk on site, you can walk them on lead along the farm track, plus the road at the entrance to the site is very quiet and leads down to the ford, so you can walk down there for a paddle also. There is a small hut on site with tourist leaflets, local visitor information and games inside which is useful. The CL is situated at the entrance of the farm, a 100 yards from a very quiet road. As its a working farm obviously there is activity but it wasn’t obtrusive or noisy. The site is peaceful and remote but with easy driving distance to nearby villages, towns and also the Peak district. The nearby farm shop & cafe is definitely worth a visit too. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this CL and we intend to come back many more times. Thank you to Anna and her family for making us feel so welcome, we look forward to seeing you when we return.
