One of the best we have stayed at

We chose this CL as it was halfway to meet up with friends for a weekend. It turned out to be a cracking little site. As we have motor homes we were very happy to have a hard standing next to each other with its own water tap. There was also a very clean toilet on site. It was within easy walking distance of Brinham Rocks, which we did on Saturday and then on the Sunday we drove out to Fountains Abbey. We will definitely go back and stay for longer as there is so much to do and see in the area.

Discovered a gem

Decided to visit Fountains Abbey by Floodlight event and made a weekend of it by staying at Firtrees. Site in a stunning setting, fully serviced pitches a bonus. Weather had been extremely wet the previous week making the grass pitches extremely boggy, nevertheless it did not spoil our enjoyment. Owners extremely friendly and welcoming. Definitely one to return to in the Summer, although they do have 3 hard standings (full on our visit).

Great CL

Just spent 2 nights here, what a lovely site with lovely owners. Visited the rocks, what a treat. Must mention GC Motors of Harrogate, had a car problem, they sorted it in no time, went the extra mile to make sure we could carry on with our holiday, wouild recommend them anytime.

Peace & quiet

Very friendly and helpful owner, A quiet site within 1.5 miles of Brimham Rocks. Well kept grass area and we were given a choice of grass or hardstanding pitch. Water supply to each pitch. Would stay again.

Perfect Apart from the Buliders

The site on a slope but the owner has provided helpful wooden boards to help level your van. The views over Nidderdale are excellent and there are plenty of quiet roads and footpaths for dog walking. Brimham Rocks is definitely worth an early morning walk in the mist - enchanting. A peaceful stay was only broken by builders replacing a roof of the owners cottage.

A lovely site

We have just spent a week at Firtree. This is a very well cared for site. The grass is well cut the toilet is clean the bins and recycling are emptied regularly and the owners are very friendly and helpful. As mentioned before some of the pitches do require leveling blocks but there are lots around the field to use. The site is quite high up so good views all around. We like walking and there are pleanty to choose from. Brimham rocks is only a short walk uo the road. The site is very peaceful our only sounds being lapwing and curlew. A very relaxing holiday.

pleasant quiet site

We had a good week at this site, when we arrived it was wet and windy, the field was well cut and clean, but we had trouble with the wet on the wheels of our car, so the owner helped us to a hard standing site. It was quiet and the toilet was kept clean with a small information shelf and books to borrow. Each site had its own water supply. If we had been on the field the outlook was more restricted by a hedge at one side and a bungalow on the other, but views were still there. The area around was great for visiting or walking with plenty to do and we would go again to see what we couldn't fit in this time.

Excellent site

This is an excellent CL, with an exceptional view over the Yorkshire countryside. The site is mainly grass with one hard standing, although there are two other hard standings which the owners were using at the time of our stay while they have building work done on their property. Whether these pitches are normally available I don't know. The site was originally a working farm but the owners have sold off some of the land to neighbouring farmers and converted the buildings to houses, some of which they have sold and at least one of which is used for holiday lets. The details on the Club website make reference to needing leveling blocks and this could be a requirement depending on which pitch you use, but the owners have left plenty of wooden blocks around the place to cater for this. Each pitch has mains electric hook up (only 10 Amp but we managed OK with that) and it's own water tap. Most also have grey water drainage, and some members were discharging their grey waste through the hedge which seemed to meet with the owner's approval. This is very handy when using your on-board facilities, no need to keep doing water and waste every time you want a shower or to wash up. There is a toilet on site which was kept very clean, but it is just a loo with a cold washbasin. The area is extremely peaceful, and we had a very enjoyable week here. It is quite remote, no local pub or paper shop to walk to, but there is an excellent butcher in Summerbridge. We walked to Brimham Rocks (National Trust) and Fountains Abbey is quite close as well as Knaresborough and Harrogate. I imagine it could be a bit exposed if the weather was bad, but it was fine all the time we were there.

One of the best

What a great site. We stayed for 2 weeks from mid September and will be back. What more could you want - we were on the hard standing, each pitch had water and waste and the views were something else, absolutely super, The owner, Val Bradley was very friendly and helpful and so was her husband. The site was always kept in excellent condition, with a lovely clean toilet. We couldn't fault it. There is a footpath into Summerbridge (about 0.75 of a mile) or a mile by car, where there is a lovely café - The Firs, butchers, and grocers. A bit further out, at Darley, there is an excellent pub - The Wellington Inn - which serves super food.
