A Lovely CL But .......

We choose this CL as it had a shower, which we look for ideally. While the CL was OK...... with young children, the duck and hen dung in the CL did put us off as we had a crawling wee one at that time. The shower facilities are excellent, the views are terrific! The toilets have only cold water (not ideal if you only want to wash your hair). The shower has an additional charge, that, when you put 2 adults & 3 kids through, isn't cheap along with the £13 per night. While not a bad CL as CL's go, the biggest down point for us was the maximum of 5 vans being constantly disobeyed as well as workmen's caravan on site & a dog tied up barking until late at night - the owner has been warned before about the 5-van rule and was quite relaxed about it, even gloating that 'they would never shut him down'. Even if you aren't a convert to maximum of 5 vans, when you're awning is nearly touching the next caravan, maybe you might change your mind!

Warm and welcoming

A spur of the moment decision to book this CL site allowed me to enjoy a peaceful weekend on the shores of Larne lough. The hosts were warm and extremely welcoming and the fact that fresh farm produce was available on site ensured an excellent breakfast of free range eggs. Chickens ducks and guinea fowl roam freely around the site giving campers a real sense of being on a farm and adds to the charm . Toilet facilities are basic but functional and are scruplously clean. A Spar supermarket complete with Off Sales and ATM are within easy walking distance (approx 400m away). The towns of Carrickfergus and Larne are about 6 miles away in either direction and the site is a great base for those who wish to explore the glens of Antrim and the coast road. As a peaceful weekend hideaway or a base from which to explore this is an ideal site and I for one will definitely be back.
