Just spent 2 nights at Gamrie with the plan to take in Pennan, a short cycle ride away but watch out for the 17 percent climbs on the way. All facilities are first class with water and grey waste at each pitch making everything comfortable.
Unfortunately we had 40 mph winds which made the nearby windmill very loud through the night , nothing to do with the site.
Great location and spectacular views nearby.
Brilliant CL, lovely owners
Stayed at Gamrie Bay for the last week of July, with some fellow motorhoming friends. Well laid out site on different levels and largely flat pitches. We were on the far right hand one so needed blocks just on one side. Serviced pitches with EHU/Fresh and Grey. Chemical waste and re-cycling very close as well.
Linda and Michael were great hosts, very friendly and welcoming. We love walking, so it was a challenge for us on 2-3 occasions to walk down (and back up from) to the beautiful harbour at Gardenstown, which is a delightful fishing village. The Community Cafe (Harbucks!) served great coffee and pancakes, and was mobbed at around 2pm when it opened, as we had great weather. All proceeds go to various good causes like the playgroup, the village hall and the harbour fund. Eli's cafe was also fabulous. The Garden Arms did a brilliant Buger called the Balmoral Burger, huge, with bacon, cheese onions, haggis, balck pudding and.....a burger! What a feast. We walked to Crovie (and back!) drove to Pennan (Local Hero) and had coffee and cakes at the Coastal Cuppie on the harbour, and visited RSPB Troup Head on the way back. Also drove to Fyvie Castle (NT) which was well worth the tour.
Bus services are very limited and expensive. We paid £21 per couple, return, to Banff (8 mile journey). Banff is also worth the visit with the Harbour, Castle, Duff House and the amazing Spotty Bag shop (which sells everything and has a nice cafe.
Our caravan Neighbour, John, who has a lobster boat in the harbour, was really friendly and helpful, and saved us from a soaking on our way back from the Garden Arms. He saw us walking and gave us a lift. 15 minutes later we had the most amazing storm, and would never have made it back to site in time! So, thanks John, and Linda and Michael fro being such lovely hosts. We had pretty good weather, spending every day in shorts and t-shirts, so that made the scenery even better. Chris & Carolyn
Fabulous CL
Super high quality CL. Everything has been thought of to make it a five star site. The 4G on EE was excellent. I was streaming the Olympic coverage easily. (I don't have a TV so can't comment on reception) Really attractive well maintained dog walk. Fyvie Castle and lovely grounds, about 20 mins away, are worth a visit. Great views from the site. It's a stunninglybeautiful part of Scotland.
Caravanner visit to Gamrie Bay
Visited this beautiful CL this weekend 4-7 July. This was our 4th visit, it is a very peaceful site, Linda and Michael are great hosts nothing is too much trouble. Each pitch is fully serviced and the view is beautiful. We had our boxer Brodie with us and he had a ball. There is a dog walk at back of site and a little wood which you are allowed to let dogs run without lead.
We were invited with other caravanners and motorhomes to a great BBQ on Friday and a delicious afternoon tea Saturday.
Gamrie Bay has a beautiful harbour to walk around and beach to let the dog off. Everyone is so friendly. Thoroughly recommend this site. We will definitely be back Lyn, Tony and Brodie
Beautiful site
This is a beautiful immaculately kept site with lovely views over the surrounding hillside. The area is peaceful and only a short distance to Gardenstown with the sea views and harbour . The site owners were in holiday when we arrived however we were met and welcomed by a family member who was very helpful. We definitely hope to return here soon.
Cracking Site
Cracking site in North Aberdeenshire perfect for access to local places of interest. Short walk on quiet roads in to the historic coastal villages of Gardenstown and Crovie where you can do a circular route to visit both. Site has excellent facilities and is extremely well maintained and Linda is an excellent host. Would recommend this to CL hunters.
Wow, what a wonderful site
We stayed on this site for a couple of nights for the first time in June 2023. Well, it certainly did not disappoint. Large pitches, access to water and EHU, easy water disposal and chemical waste. The site layout, cleanliness and well maintained spacious areas are second to none. Linda and Michael’s lovely welcome is clearly renowned. My only regret is not coming to this site sooner.- from now on we’ll be regulars!
The surrounding areas of Gardenstown, Crovie and Pennan are simply awesome. Our weekend was incredibly peaceful and the dog walking area awesome - much of the time spent looking at the beautiful wild flower areas.
Peace and Tranquility
Lovely welcome from Linda on arrival - with great views around. Well laid out site with large pitches and own water and drainage. Nice walk to Gardenstown (although quite steep) and along coastal path to Crovie. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.
Top CL
We stayed 4 nights late April 23 and were immediately impressed. Excellently laid out pitches, each with their own water supply and draining. Nice outlook and spacious. The owners have gone the extra mile with illumination of taps etc, also a lengthy dog walk on a mown grass track in an adjacent field with solar lights to guide your way in the dark. The chemical disposal was one of the best designed I have seen. Nice welcome by the owner who was very helpful. The whole set up is one of quality. Highly recommended.
Great CL site in underrated scenic area
We can only concur with other people’s recent comments. This site has been extended and the new pitches are fully serviced. All fresh and new. Lovely countryside views. Can’t be faulted and we plan to return soon. It’s further East than the more popular towns along the Moray and Aberdeenshire Coast but is close to Gardenstown, Pennan and the RSPB site of Troup Head. If you are contemplating exploring this unspoilt part of Scotland don’t hesitate to book in here.
