Not a great experience

Stayed for one night just after it opened this year. Arrived in the evening and there was one other van there, parked on the only patch of hard standing by the gate, right next to the water supply. This meant I could not access the hose to fill up, as I did not want to disturb the occupants & they ignored me. (Note to other members: If you are going to block the common facilities, at least have the courtesy to check if others need them). It is a grass field and it was too boggy to risk driving on to, so I stayed on a small section of track part way in, possible only because my van is very small. I had chosen the site mainly due to its location, which is scenic & quiet and particularly as it was listed as good for dogs. I went to pay & enquired where it was best to walk the dog. I was told abruptly to stay on the road. The CL field itself was fenced off with barbed wire stopping access to the hillside or possible walks and had sheep in it. Far from dog friendly. The next morning I used the chemical disposal. This consisted of a bottomless dustbin stuck in the ground and when the lid was removed, an open shallow pit, with existing waste clearly visible and a major risk of splashback on empyting. Seems a bit of a health hazard & I've never seen one as basic as this before. I prefer simple CLs, but they're usually around £5 and not £10 like this one. The site is uncared for, with discarded household stuff & toys in the corner and I felt the owner merely tolerated visitors, rather than welcoming them.
