Peace, a disused canal and an excellent pub!

We stayed on this site for 3 nights. Access and on-going security is through a padlocked gate and you have the key. The facilities are well thought out and clean. There is an excellent shop and plant nursery on site so no problem if you forget anything. The site had changed hands shortly before our visit but the new owners were welcoming and some work is on-going to improve the property. Out of the gate and turn left, walk along the road into Hickling and you find two treasures. One is the disused Grantham Canal - walk along the towpath in either direction and find absolute peace and wonderful wildlife. Then back to the wharf basin and cross the road to The Plough. This truly is a proper village pub - well used by the locals it serves good ale, food if you want it, with a landlord and landlady who are pleased to see you and chat without intruding.
