A hidden gem!

After a wonderful week at Higher Norton Farm - albeit with the bonus of sunshine every day! - I have to say this is a super CL if you like tranquillity and glorious views. The grass field with five pitches was freshly mown. Jon and his partner made us very welcome. Despite the Club website listing, this site is perfectly suitable for small motorhomes (and campervans). Levelling ramps required - that is if you can only sleep on an even keel! Dartmouth, Kingsbridge, local villages, creeks and beaches are easily accessible by bike. But be prepared - the narrow lanes are hilly! The pub in nearby East Allington is recommended. As is the Coleridge Farm dairy, with fresh eggs for sale and a vending machines for milk and shakes. At Higher Norton Farm electric hook up is included in the price. The drinking water tap is easy to access. And there is a nifty flushing toilet handy for disposing of cassette waste. Recommended. We will visit again!

Peaceful and relaxing

If you are looking for peace and quiet and relaxation this is perfect! Stunning views. Just had our second stay here. The site is sloping so a little caravan adjusting needed! Jon provides wood for you if you forget. He is very helpful.

Peace and tranquility

We booked this lovely CL for 4 nights but extended for another 3 nights because without doubt this is the most quiet and peaceful site we have ever stayed on, with stunning views down the valley to the sea. Jon and Anthea the owners are lovely and we were entertained by the sheep in the adjoining field. Ideal location for beach at Slapton and close to Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Totnes. We will definitely go back again.

A Beautiful Site

We stayed here last summer for 7 days with our two young boys. It is a well positioned site for exploring the coast. The site is on a slight slope so leveling blocks are a help. The site is small, with water and waste facilities. The views are beautiful and the owners are incredibly kind and helpful. There are nice walks and picnic areas in the fields closeby.

SUPERB HOLIDAY

Our annual visit to this CL was blessed with wonderful SUNshine for three weeks! (Just two miserably wet sundays to contend with - we coped!) Our family love this CL with its fantastic view down the valley. Dulcie and John the owners are on hand to help if needed - there super collie Breeze sits outside our van every morning to say hello and come to greet us whenever we return to the caravan. It was a little more difficult this year travelling around the area as the main coast road (Kingsbridge / Dartmouth) was washed away in bad storms in the winter. However, a new road was being built whilst we were there so normality should return before the end of this year. WHAT A SUPERB AREA THIS IS - yes the approach lanes are narrow but take your time, most other drivers are helpful and reverse to let you though!

I had wind!

We stayed here for 10 days to explore Devon, which I found not so easy with the small roads but managed to see the coast from Salcombe to Dartmouth. The weather didn't help much with very high winds during our stay but survived. The site is quite slopping so bring levelling blocks. Did a bat walk from local nature reserve, fascinating event. Not the best site Iv been on but ok if weather better as you are subjected to southerly winds being quite high and exposed location. Would recommend.

ONCE AGAIN - OUTSTANDING!

Cannot believe that no-one has reported on this superb CL since my last report in 2015/09. Our families annual summer holiday would not be the same without a visit to this CL to soak up the outstanding views and relax in the peace and tranquility (apart from the odd bark Breeze the farm collie - splendid animal)This year we had two journeys further afield than in previous years. One to Noss Mayo, a wonderful place especially for those who like sailing. Tremendous country / coastal walks available from here. Two excellent pubs in the village and a weekend bakery / cum coffee / cakes venue. The other adventure was to Bigbury, walking the coast to Challaborough, and then inland to Ringmore (nice pub here for a reviving drink) and return. Another visit to Riverford Field Kitchen was superb. As always the CL was well kept, newly mown grass, and all the basic facilities too - Just as well as the CC Sites Inspector was just completing his visit as we arrived!! As I said in my earlier report it is WELL worth braving the 3 miles of narrow country lanes to get to this CL. There are plenty of passing places and other traffic is thankfully considerate to large / towing vehicles. Highly recommended site with very welcoming owners.

As wonderful as ever!

Our family returned at  the end of August from another wonderful stay (3 weeks) at this great CL. The scenery is SO beautiful, and the welcome from the site owners extremely warm and friendly. Young and older members all enjoy and love this site for it's views, tranquility and location. Visits to Dartmouth, Totnes, and Salcombe plus walks along the superb coastal path are just some of the attractions. Eating at the Riverford Field Kitchen is another great plus!! There is so much to do and see in this area. As I said in my original review a couple of years ago the approach along some single track roads is a challenge but one well worth the effort.

Many thanks to John and Dulcie Dixon for looking after us so well.

What's not to like?

Hidden in the heart of South Hams is this gem of a CL with a stunning panoramic view towards the coast at Slapton.  We've been coming here for quite a few years and it is one of the most peaceful locations we know.   The welcome from Dulcie and Jon is only surpassed by the happy greeting from Breeze the border collie, who visits nearly every day to make sure all your holiday is as pleasant as possible. The usual onsite facilities are spotless and recycling is actively encouraged. The abundance of wild life and flowers is a real bonus, plus some very entertaining sheep. Shopping in Dartmouth or Kingsbridge is easy and with so many attractions nearby there is never a dull day.  For National Trust members there are some top locations just a short drive and ferry trip away or you might like a nostalgic trip on the Dartmouth to Paignton steam railway. The coastal walks from Coleton Fishacre are rugged yet very rewarding.  For a more gentle amble try the beach and wild life reserve at Beesands. As with a lot of Devon roads, confidence and knowing the width of your rig is key.

Secluded, peaceful, one of the best!

We have been visiting this site for a long time, and agree with everything David has said, although you have to like Devon lanes. The peace and tranquillity is the best we have ever found, and the very friendly owners are around for a chat, or information. The view is spectacular, and the dark sky is a joy. For bad weather there are several places to visit, such as Greenway, Coleton Fishacre ,Dartington-High Cross House and the Cider Press Centre. Further afield is Saltram House. and Plymouth. Totnes is a lovely small town with plenty of small shops and eating places.
