Weekend at High Meadow Farm

We spent a weekend at this CL at the end of July and it is in a lovely location, very quiet and the owners are welcoming, friendly and helpful. Access is ok gateway is wide, but it is downhill to the field and may be difficult in wet weather, there is however one pitch just inside the gate. The grass was very long when we were there, luckily the weather was dry, but wellies would have been needed if wet to keep feet dry. The field also slopes but the bottom of the field is more level. The CDP had a tap for rinsing but waste has to be poured straight into the septic tank, not very pleasant, and could do with improving, like we have seen on other CL'S . There are bins for recycling by the barn and a useful info shed with maps of the area. Unfortunately when taking the general waste when we left, the bin was crawling with maggots, not the owners fault, I know, but probably down to what other site users had put in the bin. There are some lovely walks in the area including one to Coleford and a bridleway to Newland which brings you into the village by the pub. 😉 Coleford has plenty of shops including a fabulous bakery, butchers and a green grocery. We did enjoy our stay, but felt the CL needed a couple of small improvements and then it would be very good.
