Secure and handy

Excellent welcome to a secure and picturesque site. Very well spaced hard standing pitches with beautiful views across countryside. Plenty of well kept grass and lovely apple trees. Distant hum of the M42, but handy location for its accessibility. Stayed for two nights over a weekend, only three units in total, would envisage being busy if something on at the NEC. Travelled to the South West often and never stayed but will again as such a useful location. Lovely countryside but not easy to access on foot, good if have user of a car.

All too brief

Not far from the Club's Chapel Lane site this CL is a great stop off when using the M42 or visiting the NEC which is a 20 to 25 minute drive away. We were on our way west and used this excellent CL to stop off and to visit the Caravan and Motorhome Show at the NEC. Access from the M42 junction 3 to this well cared for, secure, level site is easy and we stayed two nights. We have used this site before several years ago and we were lucky to obtain a last minute pitch. The large hardstanding pitches on a hill top are located around a central reservation and haven't altered over the years and still offer fine views. However, the facilities have been improved and a toilet has been added. A facility block is in the process of being added to offer a shower. All in all a great value for money CL

Very secure and convenient from M42

This is a very secure site, all hard standing pitches. Easy access from M42. One clean toilet, large grass area, nice rural outlook, motorway is a distant hum. Good cycling on country lanes from site. Nice welcome thank you.

2nd visit

Another lovely stay this time for the whole week. Beautiful views over the country side and easy access in and out. This is a very secure site, which is reassuring as we left our van all day until late evenings to visit our son. Some sound from the near by kennels, but that’s all part of Being in the countryside, also could hear M42 but nothing disturbing. Most definitely will return.

Lovely find!!

Enjoyed 1 night here and will definitely return very soon. Close to Alvechurch and M42, No noise from M42 at all, just a little from nearby kennels, not intrusive at all really. Darren was very welcoming and flexible with set up. Amazing views across the countryside and a very neat and tidy pitch area. Don't be put off by the approach and farm machinery, all ads to the rustic feel. Very secure.

Our favourite site in the Midlands. Warm and friendly owners, superb views, nicely spaced pitches, very secure and highly recommended. We keep coming back

Nice site, but some things to consider

Positives Close to Chapel Lane site and a fraction of the price Security is first class Pitches are flat and well maintained View across the field is lovely Great to see rabbits, red kites and lots of other birds Not so positive The farm is a little on the untidy side with piles of scrap metal, etc laying around, but nothing particularly unpleasant. It’s clearly a working farm. Getting out of the site onto the road is a little hairy because you need to edge out to see anything. The owners say they trim the hedges as far as they can, but perhaps a mirror or two would help. I also didn’t find anywhere I could safely walk with our dog, without driving. However, the canal Towpaths in nearby Alvechurch and Barnt Green are ideal. You can certainly hear the M42, but it’s not too bad. You can definitely hear the nearby kennels though. It won’t stop us returning because we generally spend most of our time visiting nearby family, but it’s important to know this if you like to relax outside your unit in the evenings.

Weekend stay

Stayed here as close to our son’s house that he is renovating. Very secure site with wonderful views and good well organised pitches. Will definitely use this again

Never disappoints

This CL is only a couple of miles from the Club’s Chapel Lane site, and we have stayed here three or four times, usually when visiting the NEC. I have never, ever, been disturbed by barking dogs or motorway noise. Funnily enough, we have always been pitched on the same hard standing - the one facing the pile of metal or whatever it is there, but there is no reason why you couldn’t site your van nose in and enjoy lovely views across the fields. Our kettle ( low wattage) “died” while we were here and blew the electrics, and Mr Long dealt with it swiftly and very pleasantly. The hard standings are large and flat, access is really easy and the electric gates offer a great level of security. Mrs Long offers tremendous value for money, and yes, she runs a tight ship, but I am at a loss to understand the negative comments in some of these reviews.

Useful as a stop off

Mrs Long is clearly very efficient, she was out when we arrived but made excellent arrangements to enable us to gain access via the multiple security gates. This is a useful site as a stop off as close to motorway links, including M5 and M42. Subsequently a fair amount of noise from the M42, bit disruptive especially emergency vehicles with sirens blaring. The kennels were VERY loud, especially at 7a.m.ish!! The photo is of a lovely view but if you look in the opposite direction the view is of scrap metal, junk, dilapidated buildings and the rusting, broken remains of a wind turbine, apart from the immaculately mown grass the site is very scruffy and unmaintained. Pitches 4 and 5 are next to the piles of scrap and rubbish. The grass is very well kept but only for walking on which is a shame as the five hardstanding pitches are not the most conveniently positioned around a roundabout which has metal stakes around the edge to make sure you don’t accidently drive on the edge of the grass. It was a handy site for what we wanted but will not be returning, even at only £10 a night (plus extras for a dog, awning etc.)
