Lovely, but could be so much better

Lovely area but the site could be so much better. Quite a tight entrance when there are cars parked at the cottages. Owner mostly not in residence, so make yourself welcome. The facilities leave a lot to be desired, one shower and toilet which are as old as the hills and needing a complete refurb. There are 2 washers, drier and freezer but used by c.l. cottages and campers. Not always available but a welcome addition. The edges of the field are in need of some serious attention as they are badly overgrown. Also, it would be a good idea to have a fenced off dog area, surely no one wants to pitch on a dog toilet, not on the c.l field but in the other camping fields. Most dog owners are very careful where they use, but would improve no end to have a designated area. Also on this subject, the owners grand daughter was in the habit of exercising their dogs around the caravans which had the effect of dog piddle on the awnings and c.l. users clearing dog mess. Such a pity as this could be a fantastic site. An elderly gent from the village did a lot of gardening work and keeping the place tidy, which really speaking should have been down to the owner.

Boggy

We arrived in early October 2013, no greeting, door wide open, but no-one ever answered the door. Pitched up, but couldn't believe it was so boggy, the field seems to be running with springs. You would need a 4 x 4 to tow your caravan out of this field. I am sure it is a lovely setting in the summer, but forget it if there has been a lot of rain.

LARGE PEACEFUL CL SITE BUT OH! THE FACILITIES

The CL site was large and the vans well spaced giving privacy. I am pleased to report that during our stay Aug 2013 for two weeks there was only 5 vans at any one time (often abused on CL sites), There are two adjoining fields for campers and tourers with no electric hook up. These cannot be seen from the CL field as it is surrounded by shrubs and trees. The grass is kept mown - small criticism that the sit on mower did not collect the grass and we spent the two weeks clearing the awning of cuttings. Our only real gripe with this site and one that would prevent our return are the facilities. There is one shower and one toilet in the same room. The facilities are for the use of ALL not just the CL site. The toilet/shower is a little walk from the pitch and we eventually gave up and used our own facilities after many aborted visits to the loo due to them being engaged! The toilet/shower could also do with a refurbishment as a little tired and looked grubby. A bucket with water/detergent and a mop head that did not keep parting company with its pole could have helped campers to keep it a little more pleasant for the next user. The village has a lovely pub with good food. Dogs are not welcome but children are.

Sooo peacful

Lovely location in a tiny village with local shop/post office & pub. Easy access with very clean facilities for use, with a small charge (as mentioned in blurb). Unfortunately for us we visited in the wonderful month of early July '12 when the weather was awful..the field was beginning to cut up very bad ,which I should imagine most grass pitches this year have suffered from excess water....but the owner and his groundsman were very obliging to rescue us onto a hardcore exit and mentioned that more hardcore would be purchased to improve the entrance to the field. There are 2 other very large mowed and slightly sloping fields which are without any facilities and sometimes get used by indipendant campers without infringing on the CL facilities. Wadebridge,10mins by car, Tesco 7 mins. , beaches 15mins, bus to Exeter -Newquay 1 mile .I would not hesitate to visit again and hope for a better Summer
