Handy stopover for

We found ourselves in the Sheffield area and needed somewhere to stop for the night. Kay was most welcoming and put us up on some hardstanding as the field was a bit soggy. Quiet and peaceful, surrounded by open countryside yet just 15 minutes from the city of Sheffield.

7 vans just not acceptable

I think we must have been staying on a different site to the other reviewers as I didn’t get the same feeling. I certainly don’t think I’ve given a CL such a low rating. +’s Quiet nice view, Kay was very helpful with our plans before our stay, very close to the city. -‘s 7 vans on site – this is just not acceptable, people using the site to exercise dogs and the obvious ‘issues’ that come with that, hardly saw the owners, grass needed cutting, only 2 points for power meaning that I needed an extra lead, CDP and waste bins about 100m away at the farm, site has been roped off for the horses so whilst quoted as 1 acre it’s more like 0.5 acre.

Beautiful CL

Very peaceful site, no noise. Shetland ponies n the site, and horses adjacent Could be difficult in wet, but fine at the end of October.

What a gem

This is a real find, a quiet and secluded rural site right on the edge of Sheffield, although you'd never think you were anywhere near a city. Pretty level area of grass with EHU and lovely views. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and the ponies who graze the area are a delight. I don't understand the comments about it being difficult to find, the directions in the club handbook are spot on. Yes, you do have to walk for a couple of minutes to the farm to empty the cassette but I've had to walk further than that on a large site. We will be back.

Lovely!

Fab little site. Friendly and warm welcome. Two elderly ponies in the field with us during the day which the kids loved, also the very nice young lad and lass who brought the ponies into the field also brought snacks for the kids to feed to the ponies :))) We'll be going back for sure.

Excellent CL

Stayed for 3 nights at end of April 2015.  Peaceful secluded site.  Dont understand a previous comment on difficulty in finding.  Directions are very clear in site handbook.  Very friendly, helpful owners.  Couldn't ask for much more from a CL.

Could be much better

This CL is situated close to the Sheffield Ring Road and close to Tram Stations which is good. The access to the CL off Lightwood lane is very poor. The CL sign is on at entrance to Lightwood farm which is not where the CL is (it is further down the lane) don't turn into the farm as it is not easy to turn around again. The farm itself is very scruffy and unkempt. The access to the actual Cl is pretty tight too and could be awkward to enter and to exit from. there are no Chemical toilet or rubbish bin facilities on the CL, these are at the farm which means walking down the lane and  around the bend with your  chemical toilet. The grass pitches are flat enough and the grass is quite good. the hedgerows however could be doing with a trim-back. On the Saturday night we stayed we could hear rave music all night (still going when kids woke around 6.30) albeit from a distance away.. Owner was friendly and £10 is a nice price to pay. The Cl is no where near the standard of CL we are use to and therefore we would not return. I am sure this CL could be good if the owners listen to the feedback they receive.

Shh!

Don't tell everyone about this little gem. Just off the Sheffield Ring Road but you 'd never guess the traffic was so close when you reach this tranquil little site. Not many facilities but a very warm welcome from the owner (who needs electricity. anyway?) and great views across the fields towards Derbyshire. A perfect stopover.
