We’ve just come back from a very enjoyable week at Low Glengyre where we rented a touring pitch plus their static for a family get-together. Claire, Angus and daughter Rebecca were very friendly, helpful and generous hosts. A special mention to their dog Bella who (we were told) knows for certain that the site guests come here just to worship her. :)

The site is very quiet against the expected background noises of a working farm. It’s only a short drive into Stranraer for grocery top-ups or a welcome takeaway. There are lots of interesting places to visit within a 30-40 minute drive.

Wi-Fi is free but regularly drops out being in a somewhat remote setting. We found Three mobile signal to be pretty good so we set up a mobile hot spot to share and generally had solid Internet access.

The fully-serviced touring pitch is amazing value. If we had we paid double the price that we did then we might have expected plusher toilet and shower facilities or neater hardstanding but, as it was, we felt very satisfied with the CL site and its peaceful, informal atmosphere.

Taking the experience as a whole and applying the acid test, “would we go back?” we have no problem giving a top rating.
