In reply to previous review 'Lack of clear information'

We were actually on the site when the previous reviewer arrived in his camper van and his statements are all rubbish. There was a clearly visible sign saying they were full but he chose to ignore is. After calling at the house, he was informed that the site was full. He then instead of driving further up to the house on the drive to turn round decided to drive all over the grass, which was very wet due to the weather we had had, and promptly got stuck. He then proceeded to keep revving his engine and trying to pull away, thus sinking himself deeper and spraying mud everywhere. The owner of the site David came out and was dismayed at the mess that had been made of his field. Both the owner, some of his family, myself and another caravan owner tried to push him out, but he had managed to get himself well and truly stuck. Eventually the other caravan owner on the site, hooked the camper van to his car and towed him off the field, Once off the camper van just drove off without saying thank you to anyone for helping him or apologising to David for the carnage he had made of his field. We have stayed on this site a few times and have always found David & Anne friendly and welcoming, we enjoy it there and are already planning another visit.

Lack of clear information.

An unfortunate experience on arrival leading to my motorhome getting stuck in the mud and ruining his neatly manicured lawn. The reasons for this are: 1) did not answer phone when requesting booking 2)answer phone message did not say no motorhomes. 3) when I called at house I was told they were full when in fact they were not. He just did not want a motorhome due to soft ground but did not say so. 4)As I left he should have said DONT GO ON THE GRASS! But he did not mention it. 5) later when he was irate he said a tiny sign said no motorhomes but this was easy to miss. 6)The online description says motorhomes welcome. 7)This episode wasted my time and I was stuck for 1/2 an hour and covered my vehicle in mud. 8)It is entirely the owners fault this happened. Does he think people arriving in a strange place should know about local problems? 9)so, to summarise The owner made no attempt to warn me about his boggy field. There were caravans on the field. The grass looked firm enough. There was no room to turn around on his gravel area. A little thought and information would have prevented this. 10) When he opened the door he did not appear friendly at all and was blunt saying " we're full up". Offhand and snobbbish.

Lovely week in September

This is a lovely peaceful CL, with helpful friendly owners. Anne and David take a great pride in this site and are on hand to give local advice when required. Easy access into Tavistock along the beautiful riverside path. Will definitely return.

Great cl near Tavistock

Just returned home from a nice break at Lumburn Court. The owners Anne and David made us feel so welcome, the information they provided for us to enjoy the local area was brilliant. The site was kept to a very high standard,a very lovely site to relax on.

Superb site and setting

Just returned from a wonderful stay at Lumburn Court. The owners Ann and Dave showed a genuine wish that their guests were made comfortable in every way. The site is beautifully maintained to a very high standard . The dog walk along the river being the most pleasant that we have ever used. Again beautifully and thoughtfully laid out . Many thanks for a super site in a glorious part of Devon

WHAT A LITTLE GEM RIGHT ON DOOR STEP

The owners are friendly and accommodating and take pride in their site . The WC and shower are always clean. The site has facilities for about three hard standings. The site has a lovely meadow to walk your dog right my a stream And just outside the site and slightly up a hill you have a foot path to walk into Tavistock which was nice and well shaded in this hot weather. we was only staying at this site for 2 nights and was only 40 minutes from where we live but to be honest we could of been anywhere and for my husband to say on Sunday that he could easily stay at Lumburn court speaks volumes in it self . we most deffenltiy will be returning back to this site and will recommend . Thank Ann & Dave

Sneaky hideaway

This hidden gem is what you want if you want a bit of peace and quiet away from it all. A lovely welcome from the owners David & Ann. Well maintained sheltered site, with lots of wildlife. From the site its an easy walk 30-40 minutes or cycle 15 minutes along the canal into Tavistock. Would definitely recommend and look forward to returning in the future ourselves.

Lovely site

Stayed here for 2 nights earlier this year. Very peaceful site. Visited during an extremely wet weekend but didn't spoil gorgeous easy walk into the town. Would love to return when it's not so rainy! My parents used to visit years ago - don't think it's changed much as it was one of their favourite CLs as well!

Beautiful Site

Stayed for 3 nights to go to a wedding locally but would have loved to have stayed longer. Beautifully kept as a green mown lawn along side a stream with another lovely area with mown paths and areas for a dog walk or stroll. Clean shower and loo on site. Very welcoming people and thoroughly enjoyed our short stay.

May CL

A warm welcome by David & Anne, made our stay feel right from the start. Very nice and flat site with a dog walk, next to the stream. A good place to visit Dartmoor and surrounding Towns.
