Site with potential

We had planned to stay for the weekend in light of an optimistic weather forecast. With plans for Thursday and Friday morning, we decided to get in early and arrived on Wednesday evening. We arrived around 6pm and were soon greeted by the CL owner. We were directed to the site which is via a 90 degree bend onto an access track not much wider than the car and caravan. This was only just possible for me with our 26ft van. May be easier for smaller caravans but does require a couple of pairs of eyes to watch your corners. This corner does also feature a large overhanging tree which does rub and make a very unappealing sound as it brushes down the side of your van! Once we passed the corner the rest of the access is relatively simple, through the farmyard and out to the CL field. The owner directed us to the field and allowed us to pick our pitch. We parked along the back fence and had views across the farm and the farm reaching countryside. This does lead us onto the downsides of this site. There are two clear downsides to this site which impact heavily on its appeal. Firstly the access is very difficult and not for the faint hearted. The second issue is the range of other units which were pitched across the site. When we arrived there was three caravans on the CL field. Two of these were occupied by single males who were rarely seen, with the third being left unoccupied until it was towed to the other side of the farm. Other units in various conditions did blight the land scape with these being located in the sheep field with people coming and going at regular intervals. A van was also parked in the adjoining field access, connected to the power supply in the CL. The presence of these other units did make us feel uncomfortable at times. We had planned to stay on until early evening on Sunday, but found ourselves leaving early due to the feeling of discomfort. The weekend was improved by the presence of another couple who arrived for the weekend and pitched along side. Speaking with them, we both seemed to have the same feelings! We left via the back entrance to the farm which is much for suitable for caravanners, especially those with larger vans! Overall, this site has great potential and ticks a lot of boxes. Great price, lovely views and the peace and tranquillity that you want. It is however let down by poor access arrangements and the uncomfortable feeling that comes from the other units spread across the farm. This site would be highly recommended if it wasn't for the above mentioned issues.
