Alpaca’s - honesty shop - beautiful - perfect site

Manor Farm Caravan Park

Overall rating 5 Stars – This site will be getting our vote for CL of the year. It is excellent. We have been here twice this summer, as a couple and with our children. It has a USP, alpaca’s roaming the site. Pam ensured she feed them at a time that suited our children, and they have photos feeding them, they loved it. Loads of extras, such as bbq available for guest usage, children played in the play tree house and the honesty shop was so well stocked that even bough bubbles for the children and replaced some socks that we lost hiking through a river earlier in the day. Congratulations to Pam and her staff for making everyone feel so welcome. See you next year.

Peace and tranquility. We heard only country noises, as situated down a very picturesque single track country road. This place is peaceful.

Access to local places of interest. We only stayed here enroute as part of a longer journey, but Pam (the owner) booked us a table at a local restaurant because we were running late one evening and it was super. There are lots of other tourist attractions within a short drive, including several large towns, Cheddar Gorge, Wookie Hole to name but a few.

Surroundings and scenery. Beautiful country side. There are some cute decorative features, ie restored gipsie caravans, fire pits, flower beds, garden furniture, small children’s play/tree house, farm cats, honesty shop, wind features and other delights.

Ease of arrival/welcome. As stated in some of my other reviews, my sat nav is sulking because I keep cheating on it with google maps. For this site 0 to the sat nav and 1 to google maps. Although sat nav 10 years old and needs updating. Once the site was located Pam, greeted us, walked us to our pitch and assisted us with electrics, water and ensured we were settled.

An owner who goes the extra mile (and a half)

What a lovely CL ! Pam and her son James work tirelessly to maintain and improve on what is already a truly excellent CL. You are greeted by Pam on your arrival and usually have a choice of several large pitches all with 16 amp electricity, tables, chairs and flower beds. There is a mobile home (Partially hidden behind flowers and shrubs) which has numerous tourist guides / maps / books and a shower and toilet plus washing facilities. There is also a small shop within containing ‘emergency rations – including chocolate’ all of which are paid for by an honesty box. A sign of a most trusting site owner and, hopefully, not abused by her guests! The site itself is most attractively laid out with various flower beds, ornaments, LED light fittings, tables and chairs. Indeed when we arrived James was assembling a twin seat and table which he brought across to us later that day. We were not expecting this as we already had a table near our water connection point! One of the attractions of the CL are the alpacas including a baby alpaca which kept us amused by its daily antics! We should also mention the BBQ hut which can be used as a meeting point by the guests – unfortunately health and safety prevent this from being used as a BBQ. At night time the CL is lit up by dozens of LED lights which makes the setting quite magical. Credit to both Pam and James who asked us for any suggestions or advice on how they could improve on what is already a winning formula. They genuinely care about their CL and those who use it. And the reason for this review being entitled “An owner who goes the extra mile (and a half)” ? At 10.00 pm on the day of our arrival Pam received a call from a caravanner who was unsure how to find the CL. Pam immediately got into her car, found the caravanner and guided them back to the CL. Where would you expect such commitment? My advice to anyone visiting the CL is to follow the directions shown on the Caravan Club / Manor Farm Caravan Park page and NOT a sat nav. The CL is reasonably easy to find, assisted by additional Caravan Club CL signs (At additional expense to them!) put up by Pam / James to help reassure their guests that they are heading in the right direction. The entry to the CL is relatively easy even for a large twin axle caravan such as ours but please do not run over the flower beds! We are truly amazed that this CL has not been awarded ‘Caravan Club CL of the year’ as it is truly a first class CL and remarkable on what they have achieved in the short time since they opened. We know who we will be voting for in this year’s competition and hope they get the recognition they deserve. Our only concern …..will they still have space to accommodate our outfit when we next visit Somerset?

Pam does it again

We came here  last year because of the favourable reviews and we were very pleasurably surprised that a CL could offer so much, from a very warm welcome from Pam. to a very pleasant stay.    See my review in October.   The site has been improved again,  she never stops thinking of "What can I do better" for my visitors.    It's like staying in someones  backgarden. Now there are solar powered lights around the site, a new alpaca baby, another Beautiful Gipsy Caravan which Pam will be delighted to show you around.   The Flowerpot Men will be watching you through their sunglasses.   She has got my vote for CL of the year, posted on Thursday.   We will be back soon.

Outstanding++

This was our first CL and I have to say its going to take some beating. Our welcome on site was friendly and helpful and Pam herself is lovely.  It is the prettiest site we've experienced, nicely laid out, interesting with a little honesty shop, books to read and shower in a static caravan. All the facilities you need plus a rotunda for a barbecue. We stayed for just the one night as we were on our way to Cornwall but we will stay again for longer next time.

The Wanderers

We have travelled all over Britain in the last two an d a half years and I can honestly say that this is on our top five list of brilliant sites. We have two dogs and there's a field where they can run free on. There's a shop on site with all things you need but forgotten to bring and an honesty box. Pam is a lovely woman and very helpful. All in all I can't fault it.

Caravanning Treasure

First time visit in November.  Such a pleasant surprise to find a CL with an owner who really cares and wants to make our stay a pleasure.   The effort she has made to landscape the site is amazing.   In 33 years of membership we have never seen a site as good.  See the photos on the website.  Why it was not in contention for CL of The Year beggars belief.   We will definately be back, booking early is a must.  Look at the full list of reviews.

Both Beautiful and Friendly

Sorry to be so long in writing this review, I have been meaning to since visiting last Easter time. This has to be the first time (and probable the last). That the site owner has greeted us with an Easter egg. Great visit, lovely site, very clean, cared for and friendly. One of the best CL’s we have ever been to. Don’t get this confused with the other Manor farm in the area. Spoil yourselves if in this area.

Absolutely brilliant

We have just spent a week here coinciding with the North Petherton Carnival.  The site is adorable as are the attending alpacas and chickens running around. i can only agree with the other reviews, Pam, the owner has made every effort to make this CL as attractive as possible.  We didn't enjoy the best of weather and had difficulty leaving but Pam soon produced a tractor and no longer a problem. The toilet and shower is provided in a static caravan which also include a well stocked shop with honest box and a multitude of tourist/local information for every taste. As regards the access, yes the CL is situated in the country and there are two access roads - we found the better of these to use goes via Chilton Trinity from the A38 Bristol Road and use the destination from  'Archiescampings' http://www.archiescampings.eu/ which will take you to the gate.  The site post code does not. There are additional charges for awnings, dogs and showers (each at £1 each per day) but electric point is included.  There is plenty of water points and a sink (h&c), cooker and kettle in the static.  Very well appointed and spotlessly clean.  Also whilst we were there our friends had problems with their towing electrics and help was readily on hand in the form of an electrician, volunteered by the owners, who turned up with full test kit and ably assisted. Give it a try you won't be disappointed. Well done Pam and many thanks for an enjoyable stay.

The Best

Everthing that has been written about this site in other reviews is true, we have used twelve sites this year and nine last year and many more over the years and this is the best of the bunch,.my wife and I will definitely be returning My only negative comment is that the approach lane is very narrow but there are many passing places and if you drive with care you will be fine, Within easy reach there are some popular resorts, the area is flat so good for cyclists and walkers, there is a good eating pub in the next village and those that like bird watching these facilities are not far away, you can also enjoy a ride in a horse drawn trap from the site. The whole place is a credit to the owner, give it a go and you will not be disappointed.
