Surprisingly Rural CL

Take care to follow the directions to the site, or check your route as some of the roads approaching the site are narrow with little or no passing places. Site is gated but plenty of room to pull off the road, the CL is then behind the farm buildings. It's actually quite a large area with hardstanding pitches but also grass for use when the ground is dryer. Plenty of water taps and CDP at the bottom of the field. There is a waste water grill in the driveway. The hardstanding pitches are level but narrow, we were able to park on a vacant pitch to keep off the grass which after all the rain we've had this year was a bit soggy. There is a small dog walk next to the site. A short walk from the site takes you to a public footpath which links to the village and other local walks. We used our own facilities in the caravan but there is a toilet and separate shower near the farmhouse which looked very good when I had quick peep. There were some other caravans sited in the farmyard, but away from the actual CL. The area is surprisingly Rural but only a few miles from the NEC and Birmingham, also Coventry isn't too far. Middleton Hall, lakes and Kingsbury Water park are a short drive away, as is Tamworth. Although the site is close to the M6 and the airport we found it remarkably quiet. Booking was easy all done via email, Owners friendly when we saw them. We would use this CL again when visiting the area.

Surprisingly peaceful considering so close to built-up areas

Only stayed here a couple of nights and didn't use the shower, but it was kept clean and looked ok. Easy access to the site and really peaceful. Most plots are hard standings and quite spacious. The two large trees in the field make it look more attractive than many CLs. Would stay again if in the area.

Peace and tranquility

Access to the site was easy, good job we google earthed it before leaving home as it can be easily missed. Gentleman was very cheerful and polite on arrival, and then left us alone for the duration of our stay. Site is very clean and tremendously quiet and peaceful. We stayed there to visit the Lucky Tails Alpacas on the Saturday, which was a wonderful experience, and worth a visit. Will definitely visit this site again.

Above and beyond level of service

We booked this CL site for 2 nights in July as we had things we wanted to do in the Coleshill area. However the visit did not go to plan after I had an accident on my bicycle about 3 miles from the campsite. I was taken to University of Coventry Hospital and spent 3 nights there which meant an extended stay at the campsite. Robert and Sarah-Jane were more than happy to accommodate, which helped us out greatly. They then made sure my wife was ok, helping out with some washing and taking her to the supermarket to get groceries. This help was greatly appreciated by my wife but more so by me as I had comfort in knowing that she was being looked after while I was in hospital. The site itself is in a field on the farm, there are some flat pitches and some sloping pitches all with EHU and water. There is a shower and a separate toilet on site, which were clean and warm. It is easily accessed from Coleshill. Great people and I would definitely recommend this site.

Quiet and peaceful setting

We have just returned from 6 nights at this little gem of a site.On arrival we were greeted with rabbits pheasants partridge and squirrels running on the site! It has everything you want from a CL site but with the added bonus of a nice shower and separate toilet both kept very clean. There are some very handy dog walks within easy reach of the site and the approach very easy even with a big outfit. The site is very roomy although sloping in part-there are areas where if you take your time to walk round are level and we had no issue with this. The owners are friendly but just let you get on with your stay which is just how we like it There are some more caravans parked up in the farm yard before the field site for what i presume to be commuters but they were hardly there and were not an issue to us

Did not feel welcome

We stayed here in April over the Easter Weekend. The site is big and well spaced out. Definitely need levellers as uneven surfaces. Great that there is water and electric points dotted around the site. I would agree with previous comments about signage and additional 'extra' charges. The signs did not make you feel welcome. We never did see the owner despite staying at the site for 5 nights. On some of the nights there were more than 5 vans at the site. Location wise, its good if you need to be in Birmingham/Coventry area. We had a fun visit to the Coffin Works museum. Very interfering and they do family tours as well. Also went on a lovely walk in the area.

Peaceful and friendly site with great location.

Marvelous CL. Pitches well spaced out and each one has it's own EHU, water and a picnic table, nice touch. Friendly, helpful owner. Roads to get there are good, no narrow lanes, online navigation got me straight there. The location is peaceful but as stated, a working farm so occasional movement of farm vehicles. The toilet and shower are clean with hand wash and paper towels provided. Pitches (grass) maybe a little uneven but fine with a little careful positioning. Worth it for the location though. Really convenient for NEC and only about 17 miles from Birmingham town centre. Convenient shopping in Coleshill which also has plenty of places to eat. Footpaths close to the site provide plenty of walking though fields and some woodland. Only stayed there a couple of nights for a concert but would definitely use again.

Great for the NEC

We stayed here for three nights whilst visiting the NEC for the Caravan and camping show. Access is good through a farm yard. The site is large with EHU points dotted around and fresh water taps that you can connect to your van for a permanent supply. The CL is sloping so some form of levelling may be required. The NEC is about 5 miles away and easy to access without having the use the motorway. We didn't use the toilet or shower facilities so we cannot comment on these. The weather was wet during our stay and the grass some became muddy with a red clay type consistency, although once the rain stopped it did dry up quickly. We were charged an extra £3 per night because of the show! There is also a list of extra charges when you arrive from using the farm yard as a hard standing pitch to visitors for the day. Not sure if this is in the spirit of a CL but as it is a private business you have to make your decision if it is acceptable to you. We would return in the future if we needed to stay in this area again.

Very nice CL

We stayed at Maxstoke farm in our touring caravan from 25th February for 3 nights, and at £42 for the 3 nights this site is good value for the money, the shower room was as good as one you would have at home, each electric hook up has a water tape. We found the site quiet and in the village a few miles away there are takeaways and pubs that do food We will use this site again as its only 15 minutes from the NEC

Just Fine for us !

Our first CL experience, and we look forward to more, and returning to Maxstoke... A super quiet and peaceful place to be.... and very useful for us as it is close to relatives.  The site field is nicely managed and water/electric hook-ups easy to access, as is the septic tank for waste....  The shower and wc are very useful too, and well cared-for. Enjoy :)
