lovely holiday, lovely CL, lovely owners

Just returning from a 2 week stay on this CL. The owners are very welcoming and accommodating in every way. The site is lovely and very well maintained in a lovely quiet area of the island. Well worth a visit.

Excellent site to stay on

Spent 1 week here at the end of August. Site is lovely and well laid out. your hosts, Stephanie and Julian are really welcoming and as they have a motorhome know what most of us like and require. lovely walks all around with a particularly pleasant walk across the fields to the local village. Site is only 6 amps which is more than enough with some care and thought. Will definitely return.

fantastic holiday

Having just returned from 9 nights on the site we will without doubt be returning again next year. Julian and his wife Stephanie were most welcoming and could not do enough for us. The course and trout lakes are very well kept and stocked. Julian makes his own trout pate to supply shops on the island. We were presented with a comprehensive welcome pack which was most helpful to us for planning our days out. When we booked this site Julian also booked our ferry crossing which all we had to do was arrive on site. The electrics are 6amp but with a little thought on what is being used at any one time it does not pose a problem. The site was not busy because it only opened last August, but I believe that once it gets known that will change.

First time camping on the Island

This is a beautifully set out site with recently installed excellent facilities. Local attractions are easily reached but the site is distinctly rural in feel. No need to be intimidated by the narrow roads near the site - traffic levels are very modest. Level pitches are placed on well tended grass near to a number of fishing lakes. Tackle available for hire and although we didn't take advantage during our 4 night stay, others caught numerous fish. We bought some fresh trout from the owners which barbecued superbly! Managed to trip the site electrics with our misbehaving water heater but the owners were very understanding and most helpful throughout. Extremely welcoming and helpful on arrival and provided a comprehensive local info pack. All in all highly recommended.

Lovely, quiet site

My wife and I recently spent 9 wonderful days at Meadow Lakes. Such a nice quiet site. If you’re after peace and tranquillity this is the place to head for. We’re not fishermen but we did enjoy walking around the grounds and its several lakes. There is even a woodland walk. The site is kept immaculate with good drainage, beautiful lush green grass and a properly set up, purpose built cassette disposal point. There is endless space between the pitches and even so water and electricity points are all close by and you don’t have to go digging through the hedgerows for them as on some sites. We were made welcome from the outset by Mr and Mrs. Bagnall and even the cat popped in to see us, several times. Although this site is well away from the busy tourist honeypot areas, it really doesn’t take long to drive to any location on the island and although we had originally only planned to stay 5 nights and then move on, we found there was no need and stayed on for another 4 nights. We used the site as a staging point for walking and cycling too and managed to cover most of the south coast with its breath-taking scenery. Check out the 500 year old Sun Inn at Hulverstone a few miles down the road for great food, live music and on a clear day, the most beautiful views from the beer garden. If we visit the Isle of Wight again, we’ll be staying at Meadow Lakes! Great value for money.

Idyllic week

Just spent a week at Meadow Lakes. Site could not be faulted - spotlessly clean, peaceful with plenty of walking close-by. The grassed camping area is kept mown, and the toilet, although shared with fishermen (and women) is also spotless. Access, although easy, is by way of a single track road but not much traffic seems to use it so we had no problems towing our caravan to site. The owner could not be more helpful and were always keen to help, be it supplying maps or information. The electricity supply is only 6A so domestic size electric kettles are of no use - if booking remember to bring your kettle for gas ring. We really enjoyed our week and will be back (hopefully) and might have a go at fishing next time.

Excellent Site

Just spent the weekend here in our motorhome, and despite a magnificent lightning storm on the Saturday night over the West Wight we had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. A quiet picturesque site within easy walking distance of two pubs and the village shops in Brighstone, and fresh trout supplied to order straight out of the lake for the barbie - delicious (or try and catch it yourself!). Owners very friendly and helpful, we will be going back.

A New Gem on the Island

We stayed here while attending a centre rally only a week before it became a CL. We were made to feel very welcome and could see the amount of work that had gone into creating this lovely site. There is the opportunity to fish in either trout or course lakes and all the facilites are there for you to hire if needed. The village of Brighstone is a short walk across the fields using the footpath. If your looking for a site that is well kept and in a fantastic setting with a warm welcome from the site owners then this one is a must to visit. We will be returning soon.
