My wife and I had the pleasure of staying four nights in what we can only describe as a country garden site at the rear of Metcalfe House, a charming West Country house full of character, just like the owner and his staff who manage the ‘garden’ with affection and care. Beautiful shrubs and plants abound and the whole immaculately kept site makes for a wonderfully relaxed stay with a lovely old fashioned pub and many many country walks right on the doorstep. Only a short drive from Glastonbury and lots of wildlife reserves to discover. There is a bus stop only yards from the site entrance. Only downside, is the rather busy road but there is minimal noise actually in the ‘garden’ and it certainly was not a problem at all to us and would not deter us from returning. Thank you John and staff, we’ll be back!
Lovely site
Had the pleasure of staying here for 7 glorious nights, the weather held up until the day we left. Very peaceful considering there is a busy road by the CL, lovely walks from the site, welcoming pub down the road 5 mins walk if that. John keeps the site immaculate, it's a credit to him. Would definitely stay again.
Nice Roomy CL & Friendly Staff
Just back from staying oin this CL for 4 days.
Very flat and spacious with views over the country side. With access to local walks.
Was welcomed and shown to our pitch by John who was very friendly and helpful.
Each pitch had their own EHU and water supply. Elson toilet and recycle point neat clean and tidy,
Bus stops are a 2 minute walk from the site on the main bus routes for Glastonbury, Street Yeovil, Wells & Somerton (which is a nice little place) and you can go further afield by changing busses in Wells. Bus number 77.
Village pub again a 2 minute walk but at the moment not doing food.
Would certainly use this site again.

Lovely rural site, great for nature and walking
We stayed here for four nights in April 2022 with our 4 year old and 7 year old.
We found the site nice and spacious, with electric hook up and water supplied at each pitch, and plenty of space between these. The children enjoyed the various birds (chickens, doves, quail to name a few) and there were good views of the surrounding hills.
We used the bus stop just a short walk from the CL entrance to take a bus into Glastonbury where we climbed the Tor and enjoyed the town.
There is a pub just a short walk from the entrance also, although while we were there it was not serving food, as it was under temporary measures awaiting sale. It has a large grassy football field and small play park out the back for the children to play while you eat/drink. There is another children's play park by the village hall and post office just behind the site.
There were plenty of walks from the site; we enjoyed walking up to the Admiral Hood monument and along the ridge to Combe Hill before descending back to the village; another day we walked up Dundon Hill just behind the CL, a sometimes steep path through the woods opening up to an open grassy nature reserve on the top, the site of an ancient hill fort - and lots of cowslips in the spring.
The only negative to our stay was the open ditch of standing water/mud that runs the length of the site along its side; this might be a hazard to younger children and the stagnant water was already starting to attract lots of midges. Otherwise it was a wonderful site, very well kept.

Beautiful site
Just had a two night stay at this really lovely site. The very pleasant owner made us feel welcome and relaxed .We loved the flat spacious pitches , the beautiful views , the abundance of wildlife and the great walking directly from the site . Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone wanting to explore Somerset , this is one of the best CL’S we have stayed on.

lovely site
we have just returned from four nights at Metcalfe House. The site was quiet, well organised and also flat. We were met by John on arrival who was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed listening to the local wildlife and watching them too. The nearby bus stop was useful and we used the bus to travel to Street and Glastonbury. Local pub was clean, food was good, landlord and lady were very welcoming and also dog friendly. Plenty of local footpaths with amazing views from the top of the hills. Thanks for having us, would not hesitate to visit you again. John and Sandra Bray

Lovely site
A great site nice friendly welcome on arrival
Grass serviced Pitches are well spaced out with plenty of room and nice and level which is good when in motorhome. John and Philip are very friendly and helpful. Chickens running loose interesting to watch them our dogs also liked to watch them!!
Doves flying around squirrels running about, saw a woodpecker next to our van.
Lovely walks for the dogs from site.what more could you want.we will be coming back again even though its not far from our home.
Handy and nice
Needed a break but not to far from home in Bournemouth and booked 6 nights. Had a warm welcome and shown to pitch with water and electrics. Grass cut well and improvements being made to end of site for direct access onto countryside paths. Great sunset views from far end and with the chickens and doves running about made it interesting and enjoyable stay. Friendly people on site and good re cycling and elsan unit facilities.

Wonderful site.
Booked this CL to get away in early July and meet up with family on the site.
Met by Phil who was very welcoming and helpful. Really nice and friendly.
I would definitely return to this site and would have liked to stay longer but the need to tour was great.
Pitches with a water supply to each one. Gravelled approach and as it was fine weather there was no problem on the grass pitches.
All in all a very pleasant stay.
An expensive one night!
Had to curtail our 3 night visit after one night at short notice due to unforeseen circumstances, but that didn't stop our advance deposit for one night being withheld. So, charged twice, £30, for one night with no shower or toilet facilities on site didn't leave me impressed I'm afraid. The location is lovely and very handy for Street and Glastonbury, The birds can be a bit noisy through the night if at the top end of the site. I won't be back to this site.
