We extended our stay at this very well located CL. As you can read, all the reviews are very good for this modern site.
A CL with water on tap is surely something to celebrate, add a WiFi Hotspot that actually works and you are way above the normal standard of most CL's. This is how I would like all sites to be - it really sets a very high bar and deserves the highest recommendations. John and Phillip were very friendly and nothing was a trouble for them. So wither you're a walker or a tourer seeing the countryside, this is an ideal base to work from. Several of the visitors I met were returnees and that says a lot for the general all round value for money and satisfaction for my very enjoyable visit.
A Relaxing Stay
Not an easy site to find as the CAMC sign is set back from the road, coming from the M5 it is just past the garage on the right entering the vilage.
Owned by friendly helpful people with well cut grass but 5 vans+ and 2 statics.
While we were on site we could access wifi by the house but no phone signal.
Recycling is in operation.
Good to have a water tap on each pitch.
The day is welcomed in by the cockerill which is very close by, ok if you are an early riser!!! also Doves and Guinea Fowl on site.
Walking through the gate at the top of the site a public footpath can be accessed, ideal for dog walkers
The Clarks Village in Street is about 3 miles away with its many outlet shops.
If you would like coffee and cake (when covid restrictions are lifted) on a Wednesday morning call in at Bagley Baptist Church (about 12 miles away) where you will find a warm welcome. From there a visit to Wells with its market is worth while
A peaceful site
Ideally located immediately off the main road but site is set back far enough to be of no bother. Fresh water available to each plot with EHU and night light. Location excellent, if you enjoy shopping, sightseeing or walks there's plenty of each to keep you busy. But if you prefer to do very little then the site is a perfect haven. The pitches are very spacious and well maintained. Mr Jones and family are the perfect hosts, very welcoming, friendly and nothing is to much trouble, Mr Jones is always at hand keeping the site in good condition and is a wealth of information. My wife and I are looking forward to a time when we can visit again.

Metcalfe House. Just spent the weekend at this great CL set back from the road in the quiet village of Compton Dundon. Spacious level pitches all with fresh water and electric hookup, There is a pub ( The Castlebrook Inn) 5 min down the road with good walks in the surrounding countryside, The owners are very friendly nothing to much trouble, would recommend we will be back. Visitor's from weston super mare

A great CL
Just back from a tour of Gloucestershire, Devon and Somerset and had to write a review of this CL Site – Metcalfe House at Compton Dundon in Somerset. What a lovely CL If I was to describe a chocolate box village sprinkled with thatched properties and a lovely pub within walking distance people would think I was dreaming. This CL is in such a village. A lovely location not far from the M5 and within easy reach of Glastonbury and Yeovil. John the owner is constantly looking to perfect this CL and we loved our short stay there. Easy access, secure, spacious pitches each with their own water supply and electricity point. Bus stop in the village to Street, Glastonbury and Yeovil. We had a lovely meal on the Sunday in the local pub the Castlebrook Inn. We will definitely be back.

Lovely location
This CL is in a great location for visiting this area of Somerset with all the varied places to visit.
We were on a trial trip after the recent lockdown and had only booked for one night so we were pleased to find a lovely walk right on the doorstep of the site, not too far or too strenuous, to a trig point and viewpoint with far reaching 360° views.
The walk took in the churchyard of St Andrews with it’s beautiful 1700 year old yew tree.
The arrival at the site was very easy and we were shown to our pitch with it’s own water tap and electricity point. The pitches are well spaced out and the surroundings rural. Nice and level.
A perfect CL.

A Little Gem!
Just spent 9 night's at this lovely CL, very spacious pitches with individual water & electric points, dog walk adjacent to site, lovely hosts, £15 a night & can't recommend highly enough!
Fabulous stay
We booked this site at the very last minute and were delighted that they had availability. The site was immaculate and with good ease of access. It was very spacious with plenty of room between pitches and felt very secure. Also great value for money, given that each site was serviced. We had a fabulous stay with access to lots of interesting places close by. One of the unexpected surprises was the Abbey at Glastonbury and a pretty little village called Wedmore, not far from the site. A pub was within a 5 minute walk. Owners very friendly and on hand if we needed anything.
Would definitely recommend.
SUCH A GOOD FIND
This lovely site has everything we hoped for in a CL. Ease of access, very well kept , water and power on each pitch, pitches nicely spaced, sheltered but with views and secure.
This is a family run site and they have paid attention to detail.
Many nearby places of interest completed the appeal for us
Nearby Street is a handy place for stocking up on all your needs and has a family friendly outdoor swimming and paddling pool for the family with surrounding picnic area.
We had a super stay.
