enjoyed stay every thing as shown large pitches every thing to hand even donkey sanctuary close to the site and bus stop short walk £4 return bus fare to go to the beach much cheaper than parking , people we spoke to were lovely the beach was great , only down sides we found was the constant road noise from the main road near to the site and the foot path on main road over grown got face cut by brambles , none of witch was owners fault
Outstanding in every respect.
Booked via by e-mail contact with Ann who was very helpful. £22 per unit per night. It’s hidden away down a lane, turn left in front of the motorhome dealers & go through the gate. Lovely flat site with loads of space, several 16amp hook up points and water points. Really big unmarked pitches. Simple Elsan point with dedicated hose which was very clean. Situated on a tidal creek and as the tides were low we could paddle board. Two pubs in walking distance. It’s an easy cycle to The Billy Trail and then down the island or up to Havant. We cycled around the bay to Southsea & across on the ferry about 15m. There are a few boats and caravans stored on site but that’s no problem. Finally, there’s a bus stop nearby which will take you to Havant and beyond. We’ll worth a visit.
Very sad site
This site needs a major overhaul, broken boats, dilapidated outhouses, huge, deep potholes, taps not working and the worst ever elsan emptying point we have ever seen (take rubber gloves) never saw the owner.
If this is because it is winter then the site should close over this period. Sorry if this is in contrast to other reviews, but it was one of the worst sites we have used.
Wonderful waterfront location
This spacious CL is located on a disused quay at the head of a tidal creek. The pitches are well spaced and a number of them have a firmer base and two are on concrete.
The location is very quiet and there is a track to walk around the coast line.
There is a local pub as short walk away.
Would recommend for a few days as a base for Hayling Island.
Best CL we found in 20 years
We stayed at Mill Rythe for over 5 weeks in 2022 and can't wait to return in 2023. Very tranquil and relaxing.
The site is based in a picturesque former boatyard and still has the slipway with a very usable tidal range if you are a kayak or boat owner like us. The site owner and partner are very kind individuals who really go the extra mile to ensure a relaxing stay.
Site access is brilliant, no narrow lanes to negotiate so you're on a winner from the start. Hayling Island and the area in general has great motorway links so it's an easy drive.
All the pitches are flat and you have your own water and EHU, you have a lot of choice as it's not a cramped site. Also especially since Covid, we prefer to use our own facilities so are glad there's no toilet block to push up the very reasonable £20/night price. A small detail we appreciated was that the grass was regularly mowed and the clippings collected so they didn't tread into the caravan. Ample space is one of the reasons we only ever stay at at CL's.
There's a brief dog walk in a small copse on site, but you don't need it as there are nice circular routes around the local creeks taking in the wildlife in the conservation area.
There's a quay and it's near water and sinking mud so not a suitable place for children, this might appeal to some. We never noticed any midges or mosquitos, not sure why that would be unless it's the salt water. There's a large Lidl three minutes by car and a Sainsbury's is open until late on Sunday's. Near that the fish and chips are wonderful.
If Hayling Hardware Store doesn't have what you want then there's large shopping parks and McDonald's in nearby Havant. Stoke Farm shop sells some really nice fresh produce and there's cheap fuel as you cross the bridge into the island.
There's a disused railway line or nature trail running the length of the island with several free car parks depending how long you want to walk with a nice pub serving food at the end. It takes in the nature reserve and bird watching, oyster beds and views of Langstone Harbour. There's a downloadable cycle and walking map that gives all the info you might need. http://www.cyclehayling.org.uk/the-map/
Enjoy your stay!
Good peaceful site
Mill Rythe is a peaceful site a short drive from the Hayling Island beach. It's close to the main road but not signposted after turning off (it's right by Harbour Creek Motorhomes).
All pitches have EHU and water. The pitches are grass but firm (although it was dry and sunny while we were there).
There are horses and ponies in the nearby fields and access to a small slipway. There is a pub a short walk away.
The owner doesn't live on site but provided a contact number and trusts people to leave their payment in a locked postbox.
Overall a pleasant site that we plan to return to.
Beautiful
Wow what a lovely hassle free couple of days beautiful over the creek lovely walk to pub yew tree through the fields and other creeks very relaxed site well recommended will be visiting this site quite often
great site
great new site, good for dogwalking, very easy going, mostly! although some people on site I think would have liked complete silence. we have been to many sites on Hayling Island run by Miss Ann Rogers, and this one is as good

Reasonable but needs improvement
A new CL, still a bit rough around the edges, and in need of a tidy up. Very interesting Creekside location and good size pitches. You hear a droning sound from the nearby main road connecting the island, not too much of a problem, except the noisy motorcyclist in the early hours and the sirens from all of the emergency services vehicles going on and off the island. We suffered from a club member who let her granddaughter and friends stay in her van for 3 days. This group were probably not Club members did not keep their dog under control despite repeated requests from site users and nearby residents and did not clear up after it. They also invited their friends round in the evenings, talking and laughing loudly outside the van, getting louder and courser as the evenings proceeded, until late, after 1.00 am on one occasion, in the evening. The owner is not resident so is not able to control incidents like this. So not a peaceful stay.
Most interesting CL with bird watching, dog walking and fishing potential.
The site photos do not show that it has a 40 metre quay which is alongside the creek which floods twice a day to a depth of about 1 metre depending on whether the tides are springs or neaps. While we were there we sat in our caravan (in the rain!) and saw egrets, black headed gulls, swans and cormorants all feeding in the creek. We also heard woodpeckers and tawny owls.
The site has only just opened, and the owners Ann and Russell are working hard to finish all the detail, and when completed this site will be a favourite for lengthy stays in the summer months.
