Outstanding in every respect.

Mill Rythe Creek
Booked via by e-mail contact with Ann who was very helpful. £22 per unit per night. It’s hidden away down a lane, turn left in front of the motorhome dealers & go through the gate. Lovely flat site with loads of space, several 16amp hook up points and water points. Really big unmarked pitches. Simple Elsan point with dedicated hose which was very clean. Situated on a tidal creek and as the tides were low we could paddle board. Two pubs in walking distance. It’s an easy cycle to The Billy Trail and then down the island or up to Havant. We cycled around the bay to Southsea & across on the ferry about 15m. There are a few boats and caravans stored on site but that’s no problem. Finally, there’s a bus stop nearby which will take you to Havant and beyond. We’ll worth a visit.

Very sad site

Mill Rythe Creek
This site needs a major overhaul, broken boats, dilapidated outhouses, huge, deep potholes, taps not working and the worst ever elsan emptying point we have ever seen (take rubber gloves) never saw the owner. If this is because it is winter then the site should close over this period. Sorry if this is in contrast to other reviews, but it was one of the worst sites we have used.

Wonderful waterfront location

Mill Rythe Creek
This spacious CL is located on a disused quay at the head of a tidal creek. The pitches are well spaced and a number of them have a firmer base and two are on concrete. The location is very quiet and there is a track to walk around the coast line. There is a local pub as short walk away. Would recommend for a few days as a base for Hayling Island.

Best CL we found in 20 years

Mill Rythe Creek
We stayed at Mill Rythe for over 5 weeks in 2022 and can't wait to return in 2023. Very tranquil and relaxing. The site is based in a picturesque former boatyard and still has the slipway with a very usable tidal range if you are a kayak or boat owner like us. The site owner and partner are very kind individuals who really go the extra mile to ensure a relaxing stay. Site access is brilliant, no narrow lanes to negotiate so you're on a winner from the start. Hayling Island and the area in general has great motorway links so it's an easy drive. All the pitches are flat and you have your own water and EHU, you have a lot of choice as it's not a cramped site. Also especially since Covid, we prefer to use our own facilities so are glad there's no toilet block to push up the very reasonable £20/night price. A small detail we appreciated was that the grass was regularly mowed and the clippings collected so they didn't tread into the caravan. Ample space is one of the reasons we only ever stay at at CL's. There's a brief dog walk in a small copse on site, but you don't need it as there are nice circular routes around the local creeks taking in the wildlife in the conservation area. There's a quay and it's near water and sinking mud so not a suitable place for children, this might appeal to some. We never noticed any midges or mosquitos, not sure why that would be unless it's the salt water. There's a large Lidl three minutes by car and a Sainsbury's is open until late on Sunday's. Near that the fish and chips are wonderful. If Hayling Hardware Store doesn't have what you want then there's large shopping parks and McDonald's in nearby Havant. Stoke Farm shop sells some really nice fresh produce and there's cheap fuel as you cross the bridge into the island. There's a disused railway line or nature trail running the length of the island with several free car parks depending how long you want to walk with a nice pub serving food at the end. It takes in the nature reserve and bird watching, oyster beds and views of Langstone Harbour. There's a downloadable cycle and walking map that gives all the info you might need. http://www.cyclehayling.org.uk/the-map/ Enjoy your stay!
