Good well kept site

Excellent site, good location for access into Peterborough. Site is well kept & plenty of room, we drove past before realising the CL is on the farm ‘pick your own site’. Close to A1 but not an issue with noise. A couple of decent pubs close by. We stayed Sunday night so didn’t experience the cafe etc.being open. We cycled into the city & round the Green Wheel which passes straight passed Mound Lodge & the owner was happy for us to leave later on Monday once we completed it. I would recommend this site.

Peaceful Oasis

After spending a week with extended family at a Haven site the peace and tranquility here was bliss! The site is a short distance from Peterborough and has excellent transport links as well as excellent footpaths direct from the site. There are no laundry facilities as stated but there is a toilet at the main farm. However this is really for the visitors to the fruit farm. Will definitely return.

Lovely weekend stay

Stayed here Friday to Sunday and we were impressed. Lovely well kept camping field, plenty of space for 5 vans and shelter provided by large hedges. We thought there may be some noise from fruit pickers/ children's play area but there wasn't at all. There are nice walks around the site and some further afield on public footpaths. Site is very close to East of England showground, Ferry Meadows country park and Peterborough itself. Picked some strawberries which were lovely :) The PYO and café were very busy on the Sunday but this didn't affect us as the caravan site is separate. No one rushed us to leave on the Sunday either which was nice. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely return when we want a quick break close to home.

Fabulous stopping place

Stayed here for one night in November and could easily have stayed for longer. The grass area was not recommended due to the ground being very soft so we were offered a good hard standing spot further up the road and it was spot on. Easy access to and from the main road north and a good choice of pubs in the area. We will definitely be back.

Quiet and relaxing

This is a pleasant peaceful site, flat lawn, with surrounding hedge and fruit trees. The drive is about 800 mtrs but it is tarred and there are bus stops on the main road into Peterborough and Oundle. Well worth a stay Robin

Nice spot - some drawbacks

This is an easy to access, green and peaceful spot. I would recommend it for an overnight stay or longer but motorhomes should be aware that there is no drive-over drain for emptying grey water. We were advised it should go in the hedge bottoms surrounding the field.  This was difficult as we had no pipe and it was difficult to manoeuvre the van close enough to the hedge to try and do this. The prices for the fruit in the shop seemed rather high and it was not pleasant to hear pickers being shouted at to put the fruit in the punnet rather than eat it. (Although I appreciate it is a business!) The negatives seem to have taken up more of this review than they deserve - sorry about that. The welcome was friendly and relaxed and the parking spot very attractive. As I said - I would recommend it. I have only given three stars for "access to local places of interest" because we just stayed overnight so I cannot comment (but it is obligatory on the review form).

What a Gem

An excellent site, lovely views, very accommodating and helpful. Site behind the plum orchard is well kept, reasonably level with easy access. Have stayed twice recently and will be back. Some faint traffic noise from the A1, depending on the direction of the breeze but in no way was it obtrusive. I would recommend the site unreservedly.

Recent stay at Mound Lodge

Recommended this site by a friend living in the area. What a find. Stayed recently for a couple of nights and everything was perfect. The CL is on a Pick Your Own Farm but the cars going past to pick fruit were not intrusive. The site was immaculate. I would thoroughly recommend it. If I ever need to stay in this area again I would not look to go anywhere else.

Recent changes?

Although I have enjoyed staying here in the past I have seen that a paintball company is setting up in the woodland on the farm. Could mean a problem with noise?
