Ease of arrival/welcome

Perfect for nature lovers.

We had a very warm welcome from Linda and Gary and were given a pitch on the main field which suited us just perfectly. We could see the owl flying over the lake in the evening and we had a vast green expanse in front of us. The toilet and shower block are kept spotless (no shower use at this time due to covid) The grounds are well maintained by Gary who is incredibly passionate about his site. He loves everything about it from the beautiful wildflowers he as sown to his amazing fish that he so obviously is very protective of. He is fantastic and wont take any messing from those fishermen not taking his rules seriously. He is strict but thats because he cares so much about the place. The fish are plentiful and can be seen leaping out of the water to catch flies in the evening. We wholeheartidly agree with his ethics. Here you can see bats in the evening, the owl nesting in the tree that Gary has installed, along with the water birds and hedgehogs. He has left certain areas to grow a little wild to help encourage the local insects and animals to flourish. At night, if the skies are clear, you can get an amazing view of the stars as there is nothing blocking the views and hardly any light polution. There are day fishers and fishing competitions but this didnt impact on our stay at all.... if anything we found it all very interesting. Gary and Linda are hoping to open a small cafe on the site (due to the amount of finshermen that attend) but this has been on hold due to the pandemic. We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it, Gary and Linda were great hosts for our few days on site. Thank you
