Yes Great for the Shuttle but must have a longer stay

Yep I'm one of the guilty ones who uses the is CL as a one nighter for the shuttle. However when I retire (and its not that far away) I am definitely coming back here for longer. Mr and Mrs H are very welcoming. There are superb walks and for something to eat the Gatekeeper in Etchinghill is very good indeed.

August 2014

Mr and Mrs Hobbs are very pleasant. We arrived for our 2 week stay and our daughter and family for 10 days. Although our daughter and family went out for two days during our stay the children were happy to play on the site the rest of the time. Apart from going to the supermarket in Folkestone for supplies myself and my husband were very happy to stay on the site for most of the time we were there.  Very relaxing country side and the views were great. An airstrip nearby supplied us with lots of entertainment with the planes doing acrobatics most days for a lot of the day. Also the swifts put on a show for us in the field at around the same time every day which we enjoyed.  It is a shame that not more people stay longer as it is mostly used for access to the crossing to France ect. The field is kept in very good order the only gripe would be you have to take rubbish and recycling up to the house as there are no bins on site, but this is very minor as the road is not too busy.  We thoroughly  enjoyed our break and will be going back as will our daughter and family.  Thankyou very much Mr and Mrs Hobbs.

The Garden of England

Its easy to see why Kent is called 'The garden of England' when you stay on this site.  The scenery is English countryside at its best.  The site's on the edge of a pretty little village and the owner, Mrs Hobbs was very friendly and welcoming.  What a shame that so many members just use it as a stop-over for the tunnel, but it couldn't be better placed for that purpose.

Good stop for the Shuttle

Stayed here in early Oct 13 for early start to take the Shuttle to France. Narrow access roads. Very pretty and quiet area. Fairly flat new mown grass field, well drained high ground. Services in good condition. Pleasant welcome even though arrived late evening. Note written directions as satnav can take you a strange way from the motorway.

August 2013

Some care is required to enter the field with longer units due to the possibility of grounding the jockey wheel even in the road going position - I did this albeit inching out very slowly. That said, I'd agree with all other comments made. members should bring some levelling blocks/ramps with them as the field slopes sufficiently to require it. Excellent location for the ferries/Eurotunnel which I suspect forms the bulk of the clientele who visit. This is a pity, as the area has lots to offer being close to Hythe and Folkestone and offers a peaceful and quiet retreat. Booking even for one night stop is essential..

Couldn't have been better

First review I have ever submitted but it was so lovely had to let you know. We were very lucky with the weather so obviously that helped but the CL is in a great location surrounded by beautiful countryside. The field itself was nicely mown with bags of space. Very friendly welcome at the farmhouse which was just along the lane. Most people that arrived seemed to just be using it as an overnighter before getting on a ferry or using Euro Tunnel as it is very close but we stayed for a fortnight & were very pleased with our choice. One of the best CL's we have stayed on & we've been to loads. Highly recommended.

Lovely, peaceful CL

Our first CL and our first review posting!! Was made to feel very welcome upon arrival. Nice big open field in picturesque valley, surrounded by entertaining sheep!! Very quiet and would recommend if you want to relax. Would use this site again.

Good for tunnel

The road is a little narrow in places but we didn't encounter any other traffic. Beautiful level mowned site on edge of village with open views. Ten minutes from tunnel but plenty to do and see in the area.
