A weekend of recouperation

My wife Peggy had been ill for a couple of weeks after catching a couple of nasty bugs one after the other, so I decided that as she was getting better we ought to spend a couple of nights by the sea to aid her recovery. We decided that we would try Peacock Hall as it was handy for Mundesley and was sufficiently close to the sea without being right on the crumbling east coast. We arrived a little later than expected, it was dark, but the entrance to the site was well marked. The pitches are generous, partly sloping and all grass. The only thing I would mention about the arrival is Vicarage Road is quite narrow at one end so would suggest coming in from the other end. We arrived from the Bacton direction but if we had carried on and turned right a little bit further on the arrival would have been easier. Marked down one point only for this as apart from that everything was excellent. The owner was friendly and helpful and when we went to pay he offered us the apples from his trees that are in the garden as you walk out to the site. We helped ourselves and brought some home and made a very tasty apple pie. The site is close to the Bacton Road but there is not very much road noise at all. The coastal path is almost a stone's throw away if you like to walk or have dogs. There has been some coastal erosion so it is not possible to get down to the beach without going to either Bacton or Mundesley but it is a lovely walk along the cliffs. On a previous visit to another nearby CL it was possible to walk behind the gas works along the cliff but unfortunately, due to erosion this has been closed off. At night we were treated to some wonderful owl calling very close to the site, both barn and tawny were in evidence. The water pressure on site is not the greatest but there are at least two taps that I saw. One on each side of the site. there is a small wooden building with information and free books which can come in handy. All-in-all we enjoyed our stay and will definitely be going back. Peggy felt much better for the relaxation and the sea air so thank you for a lovely two-night visit.

yearly (at least) visitor

Found this lovely site by accident when was in the area, and have stayed here regularly over the last few years. Beautiful site in a lovely area, very well kept, all the facilities I want as I use my own shower. Pitches well spaced out, nice area to walk my dogs in. Very helpful lovely owners. I always enjoy my stay and will be back again soon. Thank you.

On of the Best

After posting a comment in February, had to make a trip to see if it was as good as previously reported. Glad to say the site lived up to expectations and deserves the full rating score I have given. No need for any improvements, well maintained, good sized flat pitches, excellent facilities, friendly owners available when (if) needed. Weather in May could have been better but it did not take away the beauty of the surrounding coast and countryside.

One to Revisit

Recently stayed on this CL and so glad we booked it. Pitches are well spread apart and of good size, allowing only the sound of nature. Lots of useful information provided on a board, with leaflets available advertising various sites of interest. Very dog friendly with easy access to safe walks. Beach is within walking distance, but a steep incline down. Not for the faint hearted. A beautiful beach with vehicular access is only a short drive away in Mundesley. Only one improvement could be made to this site and that would be the fitting of a shower. This site would then deserve full marks. Regardless we will certainly revisit when in the area. Well done Mrs Pritchard on your beautifully kept site.
