Excellent with realistic price

Pitched up on 1 of the 5 hard standing sites on arrival as Mark was working. He soon turned up with a smile and welcoming chat. He is keen to keep his prices down although we were warned before we came in case there was an electricity increase. Still the same at £15. In these times of everyone jumping on the bandwagon and raising prices it was good to find. Shame there is no photo on this site. 3 pitches on the left as you enter and 2 at right angles at the end. Water filling tap easy and close access for all. Tree shade over one site and on the left large tree so you can sit in the shade from these sites. Sheltered spot and field full of wild flowers at the end.Very short walk to chemical disposal point and toilets. Toilets may not be up to high standards as old (comments 2016?) but in this day and age when people have their own facilities not a problem,. We always use our own anyway. No doubt putting in a completely new facilities would raise the price! If you need TV you can plug into the CL site system. We only managed to get 13 channels on our aerial, but this was fine for F1 on Channel 4! Whilst there the Club representative visited and asked if we had any problems - no. We will be going back as we have relatives locally - last year we made the mistake of using a off season offer at the Ladram Bay commercial site - constant traffic noise up and down the hill past us from the sites vehicles! The site was full all the time when we were there. I wish people would leave CL site reviews particularly when the ones here are old and bad. Thanks Mark

DISAPPOINTING

We have visited this CL a few times before and although the owner is very friendly it's now time to sort the site out. In our opinion it needs a visit from a caravan club inspector as we no longer believe it is good enough to be listed in the book. This will be our last visit.

Friendly Welcome

We stayed at this CL for a week in April 2016.  We were warmly welcomed by Mark and he was full of local information and allows access to his fields for dog walking.  The facilities were fine (we did not use the shower or toilet - most modern vans have these!).  Granted, if the site was given a full make over it would be wonderful, as it is it is a good CL.  The week we were there most of the pitches were occupied with many visitors having been before, which indicates that it must be a good site.  We did some stunning walks whilst based here - you can see our walks on our blog www.twodogsandanawning.co.uk

Lovely stay

Just spent a very pleasant long weekend at Pidgeons Farm.  Warm welcome on arrival and given thorough lowdown on site and surrounding area.  Having separate ladies and gents and each having separate shower and toilet meant no waiting. All facilities were clean, pitches were tidy and hookups convenient.  Lots of space to walk the dog on site. Overall a very good CL, just the sort our family likes and well priced for the area. Will definitely be back.  Worth booking, there were people turning up on the off chance of getting in and being dissapointed.

Good and bad

Visited this site for our Easter break and stayed for 7 nights. Site is easy to locate and directions are good from the M5. Only last section is narrow roads but nothing too horrendous. When you first pull into the site you see what looks like a derelict property which later we discovered was the owners house. The only pitch left was the first on the left tucked behind some large leylandii trees which looked straight out onto the owners property. Not the best of views.  Pitches were all gravel which was good, each with its own electric hook up and an aerial link so don't forget your 25m coaxial cable as you'll need this length to reach the socket. The best pitches were definitely the ones at the top end of the site as these had the morning sunshine whereas where we were pitched was shaded by the trees until the afternoon. It probably depends on what you expect from a CL as to whether you like or loathe this site. On the plus side the pitches are hardstanding, the village is lovely and the pub excellent, it's very quiet and provides a good base for the local area. Some people we met on site had been coming for years and loved it. Having any toilet and shower facilities on a CL is always a bonus but those provided here were just about adequate. Having a toilet cuts down on the caravan loo emptying trips but I'm not sure how many people would really attempt to use the showers which required tokens as the type of person who uses a CL would probably much prefer to use their own on board facilities. The whole site looks like it could do with a good tidy up but there is obviously something about it which draws people back from the comments other users passed on to me. Whilst in the area we looked at other sites, of which there are several in the area. Some of these offered much better facilities and views for only a little extra cost but they are much bigger sites so it does depend on what you want. We did enjoy our week and there is plenty to do in the local area. Lovely coastal walks and seaside towns + Bicton Gardens is well worth a visit. Not sure we would return to Pidgeons but would certainly return to the area.

BE WARNED

Despite being in a lovely friendly village with a great pub and restaurant, in a lovely area and with no local opposition since the owners of Browns Farm have retired this site has many problems. It is run down and neglected. There is farm and other debris piled everywhere. No maintenance appears to have been down for many months. The Toilet & Shower Block is a disgrace. The Van Toilet emptying facilities are to be seen to be believed. We witnessed two members check out the toilets and then leave. That says a lot. SHAME !!

Good basic site

Mark the owner was very welcoming and accomodating. The facilities are basic but serviceable. There is hard standing, a field to walk the dog in, soap dispenser in the WC. Bit quirky as regards the showers. The female shower is a 20p coin for 4 minutes and the male shower is 50p token (obtained from Mark). The site is nice and quiet, the Leylandi needs trimming as it is a bit close for comfort when accessing the hardstanding.

Great site for location and peace and quiet

Just returned after a 2 night stay and was greeted with a very warm welcome from the owner. Good location in a small village with easy access to Exeter and other local places of interest. Really quiet at night other than the sound of wildlife and amazing to wake up to the sound of a Woodpecker! Didn't use the facilities, but basic shower and toilet are available. Price is great and will definitely use again when visiting Devon.

Owl, Woodpecker (and Rabbit) heaven.

Lovely, quiet site on the outskirts of Woodbury Salterton village. Unbelievably quiet at night and great for star-gazing. The only noise came from the local owls and woodpeckers and numerous rabbits. 5 minute walk to the local pub (the Diggers Rest - Dogs welcome) which serves a good selection of ales and really tasty food. Facilities are a little basic but perfectly adequate - showers looked good (50p token required) but didn't get to use them. Nicely centrally placed for trips to Exeter, Exmouth, Lympstone, Topsham, Sidmouth, Budleigh, etc. £13.50 a night very reasonable for this area.
