Peaceful and beautiful CL

We have been visiting the Restronguet Barton site for over 12 years now, sometimes up to 3 times a year. It really is our favourite spot in Cornwall. The beauty of the location is second to none. The walks are amazing, no need to take the car to find one, just go out of the site onto the lanes. Yet it is also perfectly situated for Truro and Falmouth and the north coast too. Matthew and the whole Dale family are always very helpful, and provide a very warm welcome. Originally the site was just a field but now each pitch has electricity and its own water supply. This really is one of our favourite places in Cornwall and we have already booked our next holiday there.Long may it remain so peaceful and unspoilt!

Excellent location

This is our 4th time at Restronguet. We love that you can walk out of the camp site and be straight onto lovely walks around the coast. The camp site is very relaxed and Matthew has been very helpful advising us about best places to go on the water with our kayaks that we could launch just down the road. Falmouth and other attractions are so easy to get to from here, but we were largely content to just walk and enjoy the water. The grass has been a bit long on one visit but generally it is fine and it is great to have a water standing by each hook u, so no lugging water accress a field. We will definitely be back!

Very disapointing

I have never reviewed anything in my life before but having stayed for only 2 out of the 5 nights we had booked l feel obliged to do so. The website really did a good job on us and having read how wonderful it all was, the peace and tranquility, the 'meadow', the views etc we couldn't wait! Reality is totally different. Its a rough, uneven, sloping field with very long grass and tractor ruts. The water/electric points were covered in even longer grass and weeds. The views were, well l'm being generous if l say they were restricted by the high uncut hedges and trees. Then there was the noise! It is situated very close to a working farm and other buildings. There was continual noise from the farm including a chainsaw where the two brothers were cutting down trees. Behind us on the other side of the road we were woken every morning at 8.00 by diggers and their reversing horns at work in a near by property. Further up the road they were renovating another building and were in the process of slating the roof. We felt we were sitting in the middle of a building site. When l complained they couldn't really offer any apologies and certainly no refund. Suffice to say we left and found a very nice quiet site with stunning views for just £2,00 a night extra with showers on the other side of the river. Lesson: Don't believe the hype and go by the reviews!

Comment from Community Manager:

The CL Owner has contacted us as she is very concerned that you didn’t enjoy your time at their Site. Last year was a terrible year for heavy rainfall (one of the worst on record) and as such the condition of the meadow was affected, as was the case for many sites across the UK, including some Club Sites. The extreme wet weather made it very difficult to maintain the meadow to the usual high standards. The owners would like to apologise for any difficulties this caused you during your stay, but unfortunately this was out of their control.

The information on their website does state that the CL Site is on a farmstead. As with many CL Sites, it is a working farm and therefore guests may experience some noise from the farm on occasion. They would like to assure you that the building work going on nearby is not a regular occurrence and is not associated with the CL owners, but a nearby neighbour making improvements to their home. They were unaware this would be taking place when you booked the site and again apologise for any disturbance this caused you during your stay.
