Very Disappointed

There was no welcome on arrival just our names on the arrivals board. We were especially disappointed with the shower in a small garden shed with just a wooden floor and a big step down into the shower apart from the shower tray everything was rough wood and did not appear particularly clean and just a small grubby cloth to wipe down the floor. We were also disappointed with the walks as there were no walks from the site except on narrow roads all the walks required a car journey to access. Mr Bell did speak to one of us the following morning and appeared very pleasant, however we had to leave earlier than we had booked and he said they didn't give refunds that we should read the terms and conditions, very difficult when you have not been given any. We did not ask for WiFi as there was a notice saying it was very slow someone we spoke to said they could not get on line. Most mobile phones don't work due to lack of signal. Would not return.

Peaceful CL

We were here in April and enjoyed our stay on this peaceful, well-cared for site. Lovely position by the river and very clean facilities. A quiet area but easy to get to Keswick and the Lakes.

The Gem of the Northern Fells

Visit: July 2014 Clearly one of the best CL's we have ever visited. Very well laid out and maintained. We found John extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful, with a wealth of information of the local area. The Site is secluded beside the river which is the home of an abundance of birds and wild life. We had a bird feeder on our pitch which was a perfect viewing point. We found the WiFi very useful during our stay, as not many CLs have this facility, and at only a £1 a night its well worth it. We intend to re-visit later in the year, and make it a regular venue. Well done John & Dawn. Keep up the Good work. See you again Soon.

Overrated

This site is very attractive, by the river etc.  however we did not find mr bell helpful - in fact he was the rudest warden we have ever come across.  He also sold us wifi at £1 per night ( you have to take it for the total no. Of nights you are staying, so£2 in our case) but there was no network.  He said that everyone else could get it when in fact two other couples also got no service.  At £16 per night, this is a very expensive CL which is not worth it.

Quite a Unique Site

Nestling at the junction of 2 small rivers Riverside is a very very peaceful location where the only noise (apart from the occasional dog barking!) is birdsong and the rippling from the water. Each pitch has its own birdtable and the site is also dotted with red squirrel feeders (although we didn't see one because there were too many dogs during our recent 11 night stay). John keeps the site immaculately maintained and is rightly proud of all he has accomplished. Toilet and shower system is like no other!! There are lavender air fresheners and sanitary wipes in the loo, a very good shower system and everything is replenished on a regular basis. A great place to chill out and with a good pub a mile away - well, who could ask for more. Popular with dogs - have I mentioned that already??!!

A perfect place to stay

The Riverside ticks all the boxes for us. We've stayed here over a dozen times and like many others, keep coming back for more. The owners, John and Dawn Bell, are two of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet and the site is an absolute credit to them. If you like peace and tranquility, combined with some wonderfull scenery and an abundance of wildlife, then this is the place for you. The Riverside was a worthy winner of the regional CL of the year in 2012 and we wish them every success in the future- keep up the good work!

Lovely quite CL

Just spent a week with friends here but in the adjoining commercial field. Very quite and relaxing and the owners are very helpful. There are good dog walk areas off site when the fields dont have livestock in so the dog can run free, also a 5 min drive up the hill you can literally walk for days. Visited nearby villages of hescott haymarket and caldbeck where we had sunday lunch and the beef is half inch thick. Already booked to go again.

Lakeland Bliss

Whislt not in what many would consider "main stream" lakeland this site is a perfect oasis that offers you peace and tranquility should you wish it away from some of the more traditional "hot spots" within the lake district. We have visited this adult only site on a couple of occasions and it is a delight being right next to the river with plenty of wild life to enjoy. The facilities are excellent although some may find them a little "quirky". We think the showers just add to the magic of this well maintained site. Walks form the site are excellent with some lovely villages to visit. Should the draw of the town be to great then you can reach Keswick in less than 25 minutes by car and all the attractions it has to offer. The website for Riverside is excellent and will give you a great overview of this fantastic CL. The owners are attentive and friendly but leave you in peace to enjoy your break. Would recommend a visit the area and site are great for those wanting some peace and quiet.
