Ssshh - it's a secret

I thought twice about writing this review because I'd rather stop this site getting too popular. We only live 12 miles away and enjoy discovering local sites that we can use as a short notice getaway. Shady Oak won't appeal to everyone because it is lacking hardstandings, ehu and toilets but what it does have is of a very high standard indeed, and is a credit to the owners, Mr & Mrs Lewis. Sarah met us shortly after our arrival on Saturday to welcome us and leave the local OS map for our use. The main field is set a couple of hundred yards back from the road so noise is kept to a minimum. There are only solar powered lights so light pollution is also minimal. It is situated midway between Church Stretton and Much Wenlock so shops etc are not too far away. We were lucky to have the site to ourselves and it was a really lovely experience. We'll definitely return.

Great site

As others have said, this is a gem of a site. We stopped here for one night on the way to Scotland on mid May and made a point of stopping here again on our return trip south in mid June. Has all the facilities we need - water, CDP & grey water. Strong WiFi (from own van) and phone signals. Sitting here writing this review with hills in front of me, sheep and cattle on the fields. Will definitely be back here again when we come this way in future. Lovely welcome too.

Little gem

We loved this site. It was peaceful and had beautiful scenery all around. Spotlessly clean and tidy and grass cut lovely. We had a very warm welcome from Sarah, she could not have been more helpful and kind. Unfortunately we had to leave early due to family illness. Sarah even contacted us to see if everything was ok and that we got home safely. What a lovely lady. Can't wait to go back to this site next time we are in the area.

Perfect in every way

Having read amazing reviews here I had put this CL on my "must visit" list for 2023 and was not disappointed! The site is large and beautifully kept with stunning views and spacious pitches. All facilities are well kept and the little touches ( a warm welcome by Sarah and the loan of an OS map) we're much appreciated and so thoughtful. Easy to access the Wenlock Edge network of footpaths from site and evenings spent watching the swallows and stunning sunsets. Thank you - I will be back!!

Will definitely be returning to this wonderful new CL

We cannot praise this new CL highly enough! My wife and I stayed at Shady oaks for a week at the beginning of September. It is a beautiful and peaceful location with lovely views, that is ideally placed for getting to surrounding towns and the many rural delights of the Wenlock/Long Mynd area. The site is very spacious and well kept with good facilities and lots of thoughtful touches. Sarah came to welcome us warmly on arrival, but after that left us to our own devices, which suited us perfectly. It is clear that a lot of effort has been put into the planning and preparation of this CL, and we are sure it will enjoy much deserved success.

A perfect retreat

Only a one night stop but would have liked to stop for longer. Beautiful views and sheep and cows were great neighbours in nearby fields! Very well maintained site. Highly recommended!

First site visited, difficult to beat

We chose this site as our first ever visit on the day we picked up our Motorhome. It was idyllic- lovely area, easy to find, lots of space and a lovely host. Excellent value and great area for walking with dogs. We will definitely return

Shropshire at its best

If you looking for a get away from everything place then I'd highly recommend this brand new CL between Much Wenlock and Church Stretton in stunning Shropshire. This is a huge and immaculately kept site complete with amazing sunsets, owls and swallows - perfect for switching off. The facilities are brand new and well located, the grass is level with tons of space for 5 vans. The network of footpaths is fantastic and lots of choice including the famous Stretton skyline, Caer Caradoc, the Lawley etc, especially if you like to walk directly from the site (nb the network starts in the village which requires about 300m walking on the quiet b road). Please leave space for us as we'll be back!

A lovey new find. We’ll be back!

This is a lovely new addition to the list of CLs for this season, and is well worth a visit. Because it was it’s first year, we were the only unit for much of the week we spent there, apart from two days when we had company. The site is so big that there is plenty of space anyway, so you can spread out. As this is an off-grid site, we chose to be in the open to make full use of the solar, and there were also areas that were indeed, under the shady oaks. The owners were very welcoming and lent us an OS map. It was clear from first sight that they have put a lot of effort into their site. If walking is your thing, there are loads of walks from the site, which were mostly empty of other walkers. We will definitely put this on our is of places to return to.

Great new off grid site

Stayed one night on our way home. Large well kept field with views to the countryside. Grey waste disposal and drinking water in the centre of the field together with a planter full of lovely colourful flowers. Chemical toilet disposal and recycling area just before you enter the field. Visited Ironbridge and Ludlow and a couple of NT gardens. Sarah and her son very welcoming. We need more sites like this. Wonderful experience. Highly recommended.
