Friendly CL in a perfect location.

We stayed here for five nights the Second week in August 2023. As suggested by Glennie we ignored the directions in the book and came in via Foolow and not Eyam, about a mile further up the main road on the right. Much easier as Eyam gets quite busy with parked cars so is a pain if towing a caravan. As requested on arrival, stop at the entrance and knock on the farmhouse door. Lovely welcome from host Glennie who will give you all the gen. If Glennie is working a note is left on the gate as to which pitch to go on if it's busy. The site slopes more than the cover photo shows and unfortunately we had pitch 3 which slopes both ways. However with the use of ramps and blocks we managed to almost get level. Too uneven to put the awning out though. Next day we moved to pitch 1 as it became vacant as it is almost level. You need a double electric lead for this pitch as it's on the opposite side of the field, Glennie provides extra leads should you need them. For information, Pitch 1,2&5 are fairly level. Pitch 3 very uneven. Pitch 4 sloping but not too bad. Water pressure is very high and it's great to be able to fill an aquaroll in a couple of minutes. Elsan point is in the corner of the field and is quite adequate. This CL is in such a great position for visiting and walking the Peaks, waterfalls and Edges, plus all the other attractions nearby. It is also very quite for a working farm. There is a waterfall by the entrance to the farm that runs when there has been a lot of rain, however it's in an old small quarry and is quite precarious to climb down to. Just go a few yards down a track to the left of the entrance and you'll see a small gate on the left. It's very steep and muddy from the gate down to the falls. On the whole we thought this was a great value CL at £16 per night Inc EHU although prices will be going up next year. We'll definitely be returning.

Peaceful and relaxing

Warm welcome on arrival. Site is set back from road so very quiet with lovely views over the countryside. Each pitch has EHU and there are 2 water points along with elsan disposal. Field is sloping but you can pitch on opposite side of field which is less of a slope. Owner has extension leads available for EHU. Eyam museum is worth a visit and pick up a map which shows walks of the village and surrounding area. Eyam is about 30 minutes walk but its up hill on the way back. Closet pub is 15 minute walk in opposite direct on a reasonably flat road.

Very relaxing, beautiful views, great welcome

Spent a lovely weekend at Eyam. There’s hardly any light pollution here so we enjoyed a relaxing evening sat outside the caravan, with a couple of drinks, looking at the stars. Glennie welcomed us onto site and was always friendly. Nice walk into Eyam, great pubs nearby.

Hidden Gem

Great value. Quiet, secluded. Good access and friendly welcome Yes, the site is slightly sloping but the owners have lots of boards/blocks so levelling no problem. They have extra electric cables so you don't have to park under the trees if you don't want. Elsan point adequate. 2 water taps and electric to each pitch. If there has been rain then check out the waterfall at the end of the drive (ask owners for directions - it's a hidden gem!) Would certainly visit again.

Peaceful site

Warm welcome, very helpful, beautiful cl site. Owners were eager to please even though my requests for oxygen delivery were quite complicated. Quiet, with wild life and farm animals around, good dining in places close by, Miners Inn and Coolstone restaurant. Looking forward to going there again.

Lovely quiet peaceful stay

Just come back from a lovely quiet two night stay at Shepherds Flat Farm. We were told on arrival we could go where we wanted and we left to do as we pleased with no hassle. The site is on a slight incline however as we're use to camping on uneven ground we had enough wood with us to level the caravan up, there is wood provided to use if if you haven't got enough yourself. If anything I would say some of the previous reviews on this CL are unfair, now having been and experienced it for ourselves we will defiantly be going back in the future, if people want tarmac roads and level pitches for their caravans they should book a on a Haven site and pay the high price it comes with. Weeks holiday

Just had a peaceful weeks holiday here, pitches are on quite a slope, (blocks are available),all pitches are under trees or needing a long electric lead to reach other side of the field, but then others will be driving across this to get in & out of field. All in all a nice site but not one we will return to.

Enjoyable Break

Owner on hand when we arrived and they advised re pitching - extra cables available to extend reach from electric hook up units if required. Lovely site and great location for walkers and cyclists (MTB or Road). Levelling blocks advisable for most spots on the site. Can see what has been said about possibility of difficulty in wet weather but we had no trouble in spite of that (Honda CRV towcar). I've little doubt the owner will help with his Land Rover or tractor.

Not good in wet weather

We stayed for four nights at the beginning of July. The pitches near the EHU's were under overhanging trees and quite wet and boggy as there had been a period of rain. The site dried fairly quickly. We tow with a 4 x 4 and think a car would have struggled on this site during wet weather. Definitely need a quantity of leveling blocks. Peaceful site, close to Derbyshire beauty spots. The nearest pub is a good mile walk along the road, which served good food (but no chips on a Saturday!!) Probably wouldn't use this site again.

So peaceful!

Just looking to re book after staying here last year.  Lovely little site, very peaceful and in beautiful surroundings.  Yes, its partly sloping but no problem.  May be a little difficult if very wet, but we certainly had no trouble with our Citroen van and Hymer caravan!  The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance, the chips at the Barrel Inn are wonderful!  Recommended!
