August on the Gower

This is my first time of staying on a CL and we were not disappointed. I had originally booked the club site at Gowerton but found this CL with toilets, hard standing and water point to every pitch which was a bonus when using the shower in the van. Also it was better located with easy access to all parts of the Gower for all the walking that we wanted to do. Most people pitch front end in first allowing a lovely view over the farmers field and beyond to the marshes. The owners directions from their website were very detailed allowing a straight forward journey. The site is on a popular route so can be noisy during the day in peak season but we were out every day so it didn’t bother us. Across our week we walked virtually all of the coast path experiencing fantastic views every day. Something worth considering if you have not been to the Gower before is to come with plenty of supplies as there are very few shops for even the basics. There is a garage with competitively priced fuel and a shop about 1.5-2 miles away in Llanrhidian. We ate at the Britannia Inn which we did walk to once but it is about 45 minutes walk so might be too far for some and again when we drove, food was lovely and views from the garden over the marshes are lovely. The Welcome in Llanrhidian serves nice food too. The King Arthur at Reynoldstone was again a lovely place to eat but does get busy. Booking is essential at all three of these places in season. All in all a lovely week was had.
